In this week of our series on the book of Romans, Elder Jeff Blackwell tackled Romans 6 which includes popular scriptures that many have memorized over the years, but in this sermon, you find that Jeff brings fresh vision to this chapter, reminding us of the divine influence of the Holy Spirit to bring grace that weaves throughout the chapter. Though we deserve death, though we sometimes have struggles, we can be grateful that even in our lacking, the Lord, in his kindness and favor, has provided such a gift of life through Jesus Christ and we begin to see this grace and mercy reflected as we are no longer slaves to sin and death but find what's it's truly like to live in Him.

This week, Pastor Katherine helped us tackle the Truth that we find in Romans 5, where Paul begins by helping us unfold what reconciliation looks like with the love of Jesus and the work of the cross. We also discovered what it is to be hope filled prisoners, children of God who trust in Him and have our eyes on Jesus, held captive by the love, hope and freedom in Christ.

This week, Senior Pastor Scott Hobbs tackled Romans 4, where Paul gives us a glimpse at what living a life of faith looks like and how to walk that out. We are able to see this faith-filled example in the story of Abraham, whose faith was a reflection of trusting the Father for something that seemed to be impossible in his life. You may feel like there is so much that you need to do to be right with God, and the truth is that you can't get right with God on your own. Jesus puts us right with the Father. So what does God need? He just needs your yes! He doesn't need perfection. He doesn't you need to get it all right. He needs you to trust and follow Him!

This week, we tackled Romans 2 diving deep into what the scripture says about God's judgement. At first glance, it may seem like a heavy text yet it is full of such Good News. Even though we know that we can never do enough or flip the scales in our favor, but even in our sinful nature, God's judgement is not something that we have to fear. All we have to do is recognize that Jesus paid the price for our sin. We don't have to be good enough because He is good!

Senior Pastor Scott Hobbs began our deep study into the Book of Romans, many who might call this book the "Roman Road to Salvation." As we spent time looking through history of the many theologians and important Christian leaders whose lives were radically changed while reading this book, we also spent time seeing its relevance for us, the church, today! Paul shows us a powerful example of Christ even through some challenging circumstances. His road to Rome was not glamorous and he wasn't always met with love, yet we see him begin this book with a heart of thanksgiving and a heart of deep love for the people he was writing too!

Senior Pastor Scott Hobbs tackled the second part of Romans 1. There, we find text that at a first glance night feel intense yet we recognize that to fully appreciate the GOOD NEWS of the GOSPEL we must also know that God is HOLY and perfect. Nothing that is UNJUST can be in His sight. Yet God, in His great love for each ones of us, so loved the world that He made a way for us to know Him.
