Sunday Messages

Don't Be Provoked!

August 9, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

The world is trying to think for you. And if you don’t respond when they tell you to, they will often try to provoke you into a response with condescending, disrespectful and flat-out insulting rhetoric that is not necessarily fact-based – just read Emporia Chat on Facebook. We must capture everything we see and hear, filter it through the teachings of Christ and formulate a Spirit-led response based on truth, laced with grace and delivered in God’s timing.

As If It Never Happened

August 2, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Every Christian can live unoffended. It is not a suggestion but a mandatory tenant of the faith. In our offended and unforgiving culture, it is more important than ever to know how to live free from the bondage of offendedness. We can become the most unoffendable people on the face of the earth because no one has the grace we possess.

Life's Highest Delight

July 26, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Man has always been seeking delightful things; things that make him happy. God is not opposed to us having the delights of our heart – things that bring pleasure and happiness – because He created all good things. But if we purse them the wrong way, it can open a door of opportunity to darkness.

Navigating Uncertainty

July 19, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Sometimes we must admit we do not know what is doing on around us. We feel like a horse that has been blindfolded to lead it out of a burning barn. That horse must have a lot of confidence in the quiet, assuring voice of the handler. Do you trust in God that way? Do you hear His assuring voice, or do you make too much noise? I want to share some things I have learned that have helped me navigate uncertainty much more confidently.

Be a Lover and Not a Hater

July 12, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Love is an important thing. Most people would acknowledge this even if they choose not to do much about it. To become a lover, instead of a hater, is central to being a disciple of Jesus Christ or we lose our legitimacy to those watching us. The only way to grow in love is to assume we have blind spots we need addressed, to carefully consider what is revealed and take purposeful action to correct our shortcomings while trusting Jesus Christ’s power to change us. Let this 16 minute message challenge you today.

Speaking to Dry Bones

July 5, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Have you ever dug through your bag of regrets pondering the “what if’s”? Everyone has at some point. We find ourselves asking lots of things and sometimes find we are asking the wrong questions. God has an answer for everyone walking through dry places. In this message we will talk about the right question to ask God as we deal with dry places in our lives.

Embrace Your Assignment with Confidence

June 28, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Have you ever felt incompetent? Like you just are not up-to-the-task? This kind of uninformed frame of mind can be very self-defeating and leave you feeling very unfulfilled and unsuccessful. The Bible says something completely different about you and where your talents and skills come from. When you embrace what the Bible says, you are set up to step up to another level of success amid challenge.

An Invitation From the Trinity

June 21, 2020 • Loren Houltberg

Is it possible to dwell in the secret place of the Most High while living in today's turbulent world? This message, based on Psalm 91, addresses that question. It is an invitation from the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Lord of the Harvest

June 14, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Some look at the season they are in and say in their hearts, “Que sera, sera: It is what it is!” But the truth in Christ is that it does not have to be what it is. The Lord of the Harvest can create blessing where others only see limited outcomes. Are you going to come out of this season blessed or not? Much of it depends on what you believe.

The Power of Prayer

Mike Stubbs

How often have you heard someone say, “We can only pray”? It sounds like since all else has failed, we might as well resign to prayer. The Bible teaches something radically different. It teaches prayer is our first option and does not need to be a sign of resignation but expectation. In fact, we would save a lot of time, stress, and brain power if we started with prayer and let God do the heavy lifting!

The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Growth

May 31, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Every Christian who is committed to spiritual growth will run squarely into the Holy Spirit. How will you respond to Him? From start to finish, the Holy Spirit adds vibrancy to our spiritual growth. An open heart to the Holy Spirit is a game changer in the formation and transformation of the sincere follower of Jesus Christ.

A Little Heaven on Earth

May 24, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Many believe all there is to Christianity is getting to heaven and avoiding hell. That’s all good but there is so much more for the believer who prays that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Are you praying down some heaven on earth? Or are you passively taking all the devil throws at you just hoping to survive long enough for a cabin in the corner of glory? There is more to life than many believers are aware of.

Slow Down, Simplify and Be Kind

May 17, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

We live in a cruel, complex, and fast paced society. Yet there is something clear back from the garden that calls us to slow down, simplify and to be kind. Since we have been conditioned for a lifetime to operate the wrong way, be patient with yourself but be intentional about setting out to change to healthier behaviors. Let’s get this working now so we can exit this shelter-in-place in a “better place” than we were before.

Do Believers Grow in Righteousness?

May 10, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Since the Bible says the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven (1 Corinthians 6:9), a believer must be righteous to say he is saved. This means on one hand you are perfected, but our behavior suggests something different at times. Our perfect righteous identity should begin to work itself into our behaviors. So, although you are a righteous child of God as a believer, there is a way to grow into righteous behavior.

Going to God First

May 3, 2020 • Mike Stubbs

Our natural mind tends to gravitate toward our own solutions first. But Jesus Christ challenges us to invite Him into every situation first. The reason is that the natural is influenced by the supernatural realm. Doing this takes us deeper into the unseen domain faith operates best in.
