If you go to Israel and explore the ancient sites where Jesus lived, you'll discover the biblical practice of ritual bathing, where men and women cleansed themselves of physical dirt and spiritual impurities. Jesus and his disciples preached repentance and encouraged baptism as a symbol of spiritual renewal. In the Great Commission, Jesus commanded His disciples to spread His teachings to all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Repentance: Turning Away From Sin

The word “repentance” often conjures up daunting images of people with signs proclaiming, “Repent, for the end is near!” But in reality, repentance is a beacon of hope. It means to turn around. No matter how difficult things have become or how distant you may feel from God, when you repent or turn back to Him, you immediately encounter His love and mercy, ready to welcome you with open arms like the father of the prodigal son. And since authentic believers are an extension of the heart of God, you may find yourself feeling less distant from your brothers and sisters in Christ, too.
