The word “repentance” often conjures up daunting images of people with signs proclaiming, “Repent, for the end is near!” But in reality, repentance is a beacon of hope. It means to turn around. No matter how difficult things have become or how distant you may feel from God, when you repent or turn back to Him, you immediately encounter His love and mercy, ready to welcome you with open arms like the father of the prodigal son. And since authentic believers are an extension of the heart of God, you may find yourself feeling less distant from your brothers and sisters in Christ, too.
