Ep. 385 - Forgiveness, Not Vengeance
November 17, 2024 • Romans 12:19–21, 1 Peter 3:9
MINISTRY MOMENT
Are you holding any unforgiveness in your heart, maybe even saying to yourself, “I will eventually forgive that person, but I haven’t worked through it enough yet in my mind or heart.” Let me encourage you to partner with the Holy Spirit in forgiving that person right now. Even if your emotions aren’t in it yet, making the determination to forgive is the first action step. Your emotions will eventually be transformed as well.
PRAYER POINT
“Thank You, Heavenly Father, that You are faithful to forgive me of every sin that I lay at Your feet in repentance. It is so hard for me to let go of the wrongdoing that (the person who hurt me) has done to me, but I know that You have called me to turn it over to You and trust You to take care of it. With Your help, I forgive them now. I thank You that the Holy Spirit will help me heal. Help me to see (the person who hurt me) as You do, and I pray that they will come to know You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
GOING DEEPER
Read and study Romans 12:19-21 and 1 Peter 3:9.
WALK IT OUT
Every time that the enemy tries to remind you of the wrongdoing committed against you, quickly claim the forgiveness that you have already given and replace the invading thought with thanksgiving for your own forgiveness and prayer for the other person. You’ll be blessed to see how the Lord is faithful in softening and healing your heart.
SHARE WITH OTHERS
As you are obedient in forgiving others, you will be blessed with opportunities to share your testimony of God’s goodness in bringing you healing, freedom, peace, and even joy through forgiveness. This also naturally leads to sharing the Gospel, which is God offering the undeserved gift of forgiveness and salvation to every one of us through Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice!
