Stewards of His Grace: Ephesians

Ephesians Session 19

May 18, 2021 • Erin Morris

Paul concludes the book of Ephesians by refocusing our gaze heavenward. He urges us to be people of prayer, praying at all times, about all things and for all people. It is prayer that enables us to fight our battles and be victorious through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is prayer that allows us fellowship with the Father, and it is prayer that refreshes and strengthens our souls. Are we devoted to prayer as we should be? Join us for our closing session of Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 6:18-24 2 Chronicles 20:5-6; 9-13; 15-17; 21-22; 27 Psalm 34:15-16 James 5:16-18 2 Corinthians 3:12

Ephesians Session 18

As followers of Christ, we fight a spiritual battle that daily wages war against our souls. How can we prepare ourselves for an enemy that we cannot see? Paul commands us to do so by putting on the “Armor of God.” What does that mean, and how will this prepare us for a lifetime of battles against the enemy? Ephesians 6:14-17 walks us through each piece we need in order to equip our bodies and souls against the spiritual warfare we face. Join us for session 18 of Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 6:14-17 Romans 8:37-39 2 Peter 1:3 Ephesians 4:27 Romans 3:22 Romans 8:1 Isaiah 52:7 Hebrews 4:12

While we often look to physical things we can see, the Bible reminds us that our battle is not with flesh and blood, but rather, it is a spiritual battle we fight. Where do we get strength for this battle? How can we stand firm even in the fiercest battle? Join us for session 17 of our study: Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 6:10-13 James 4:7-10 1 Peter 5:6-11 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 Matthew 4:1-4 Colossians 2:15 2 Corinthians 4:7-10 2 Chronicles 14:11 Psalm 30:6,7 Psalm 16:8

Christ Himself, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, came to serve. We should never elevate ourselves to a position based on job title or leadership role where we feel entitled to be served rather than to serve others. In these verses, Paul changes the status quo of personal relationships across family and social barriers through the principle of mutual submission in the Lord. In doing so we demonstrate the transforming power of the Gospel and point others to the hope of Christ in a world that desperately needs Him. Join us for session sixteen of our study: Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 6:1-9 Ephesians 5:31 Colossians 3:20 Hosea 14:9 Colossians 3:21 Deuteronomy 6:7 Titus 2:9-10 Colossians 3:23 Matthew 20:28

More than ever, marriages are under attack. What does a Biblical marriage look like? How are husbands and wives called to act towards one another, and how does following the Biblical prescription for marriage both strengthen it and protect it? Join us as we look at how submission and love work together to build a strong marriage in session 15 of Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 5:22-33 Genesis 3:16 John 15:13 Philippians 4:8 1 Peter 3:1-5

Are we fully awake as Christians or have we been lulled to sleep by the distractions of this world? In this section, we are reminded to take care how we walk, not as unwise, but as wise because our time here is short. Join us for session 14 of Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 5:14-21 John 8:12 Proverbs 4:18 Psalm 27:11 Ephesians 4:32 Proverbs 3:5-6 Psalm 42:8 Zephaniah 3:7

We are instructed to be imitators of our heavenly Father in love, righteousness and as light. What does this actually mean? What would it look like to love others as we have been loved? How can we pursue righteousness and walking as light in a world that is increasingly sinful and dark? Join us for session 13 of Stewards of His Grace. Scripture Used: Ephesians 5:1-13 Matthew 5:46 John 15:12-13 1 Peter 4:8 Ephesians 5:3-6 2 Corinthians 5:21 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Jeremiah 23:24 Hebrews 4:13

We are called to a high standard as believers. Perhaps one of the most difficult areas to control is our speech. Paul exhorts us not to use any unwholesome words, but rather, words that edify those around us. We are instructed to put away bitterness and anger and instead to pursue kindness and forgiveness toward all. Join us for session twelve of Stewards of His Grace. Scripture Used: Ephesians 4:29-32 Proverbs 16:23 Matthew 7:17-18 Proverbs 25:11 Colossians 4:6 James 1:19 Psalm 78:40 Romans 8:6-8, 12-14 Hebrews 12:15 Titus 3:3-7 Isaiah 53:4-6

Ephesians Session 11

As believers in Jesus Christ we are called to intentionally lay aside falsehood and instead to speak the truth to one another. Paul also exhorts us not to sin when we are angry, but instead to extend grace to one another. Finally, as those making a claim to godliness we should not steal, but rather, look for ways to be generous and give to others. Join us for session eleven of Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 4:25-28 Jeremiah 17:9 James 1:19-20 Proverbs 19:11 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 Acts 2:44-45 Matthew 5:16

Ephesians Session 10

March 9, 2021 • Paula Thorp

Paul draws a stark contrast between how we lived before Christ and how we're called to live once we are saved. As believers, we are instructed to lay aside the old self and to put on the new self, walking in righteousness. We must fight the tendency of our hearts to become calloused and continue to seek Christ first. Join us for session ten of Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 4:17-24 Romans 6:12-13 2 Timothy 3:16 James 4:4 Ezekiel 36:26-27 Galatians 5:24 John 15:5

Ephesians Session 9

When Christ ascended in triumph into glory, He gave gifts to each and every believer. As stewards of the grace of God, we are called to employ these gifts to serve one another and to bring glory to God. Exercising our gifts and studying the Word of God helps us grow into maturity so we are lacking nothing. Join us for session nine of Stewards of His Grace. Scripture Used: Ephesians 4:7-16 Psalm 16:10 1 Peter 3:18-19 Hebrews 11:39-40 Ephesians 2:10 1 Peter 4:10 Romans 10:2

Ephesians Session 8

February 23, 2021 • Diane Clift

In Chapter 4 Paul moves from helping us understand who we are in Christ to application of this new life. He reminds us there is a commitment that comes with following Christ and a call to walk in a certain manner which through our humility, gentleness, patience and tolerance leads us to a Church that is unified. This unity is what the Lord calls us to as an example, an oasis, to the lost and dying world. Join us for session 8 of Stewards of His Grace. Scripture Used: Ephesians 4:1-6 Romans 12:1 1 Peter 2:9-10 2 Timothy 1:8-9 Matthew 11:29 Matthew 5:5 Galatians 5:22 John 15:16 Ephesians 1:17 1 Corinthians 1:10 1 Corinthians 12:13 John 5:24 1 Corinthians 8:6 Isaiah 44:6 John 17:21-23

Ephesians Session 7

Paul urged the Ephesian church not to lose heart at his tribulations, assuring them his trials were for a purpose. Similarly, our trials have purpose if we allow God to use them for His glory. Through Christ we are rooted and grounded in love and strengthened to encounter trials and battles of various kinds. Join us for session seven of Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 3:13-21 Romans 8:28 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Philippians 4:13 Isaiah 26:12

Ephesians Session 6

February 9, 2021 • Paula Thorp

There are times we find ourselves in difficult situations. In order to endure trial well, we must keep our focus on Christ, remembering that God is still in control. We are called not to hoard the grace we have been given, but to continue to extend it to others as good stewards of all that we have received. Just as Paul was handed the commission to preach the Gospel, we too, as believers, are called to share the Gospel with the world around us. We are called to faithfully execute our mission both in good times and also in times of trial. Join us for session six of Stewards of His Grace. Verses Used: Ephesians 3:1-12 James 1:2-4 Romans 14:12 Titus 2:11 Psalm 139 Psalm 51 Micah 6:8

Ephesians Session 5

February 2, 2021 • Erin Morris

Much like today, divisions existed in the ancient world, built on human systems, ethnicity and religious practices. Paul reminds us that we all stood equally separate from Christ and without hope. At the cross Jesus reconciled us to Himself, broke down the dividing walls among us, gave us direct access to God and is building for Himself a holy temple made up of the church. Join us for session 5 of Stewards of His Grace. Scriptures Used: Ephesians 2:11-12 Genesis 17:1-6, 10-14 Genesis 12:2-3 Romans 2:25, 28-29 Ephesians 2:13-17 Galatians 3:27-29 Galatians 6:15 Ephesians 2:18-22 Matthew 27:50-51
