Ephesians 6:1-9

Christ Himself, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, came to serve. We should never elevate ourselves to a position based on job title or leadership role where we feel entitled to be served rather than to serve others. In these verses, Paul changes the status quo of personal relationships across family and social barriers through the principle of mutual submission in the Lord. In doing so we demonstrate the transforming power of the Gospel and point others to the hope of Christ in a world that desperately needs Him. Paul concludes the book of Ephesians by refocusing our gaze heavenward. He urges us to be people of prayer, praying at all times, about all things and for all people. It is prayer that enables us to fight our battles and be victorious through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is prayer that allows us fellowship with the Father, and it is prayer that refreshes and strengthens our souls. Are we devoted to prayer as we should be? As followers of Christ, we fight a spiritual battle that daily wages war against our souls. How can we prepare ourselves for an enemy that we cannot see? Paul commands us to do so by putting on the “Armor of God.” What does that mean, and how will this prepare us for a lifetime of battles against the enemy?
