Being God's People
45-Romans
December 17, 2023 • Pastor Christopher Thompson • Romans 14:5–23
Last week, we were introduced to the concept of "doubtful things," which should not be the cause of separation and judging of one believer over another. Paul specifically addressed meat that had been deemed unclean for some reason. This could have been because it had been sacrificed to a false God or was unclean according to Jewish dietary laws. This week, Paul deals with days and circles back to food as we look at "More About Doubtful Things."

Have you ever been judged? Have you ever judged? I guess you have answered "yes" to both of these questions. This week, Paul will give us some amazing advice, cautioning us to “Be careful how you judge.” #jesus #ApostlePaul #faithfulness #salvation #grace #Love #Hypocrisy #christianlife #judging
43-Romans
December 3, 2023 • Pastor Christopher Thompson • Romans 3:8–14
Last week, the Apostle Paul, inspired by the Holy Spirit, told his audience, as well as us, that we need to submit to the governing authorities and pay our taxes; this week, he is going to further upset the apple cart by declaring that we should “Owe Only Love.”
40-Romans
November 5, 2023 • Pastor Christopher Thompson • Romans 12:3–8
Last week, we entered Romans 12 with these powerful verses: I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. -Romans 12:1-2 We continue this week with verses 3-8. We will see that though we are many in Christ, we are one. #jesus #ApostlePaul #faithfulness #salvation #grace #jews #israel #weareone #theworld #fruitofthespirit #unity
38-Romans
October 22, 2023 • Pastor Christopher Thompson • Romans 11:22–36
Last week, we learned that We, as believers in Christ, have been grafted into the “Olive Tree” that is the family of Abraham. But we also saw that Some branches have been removed. These were those who, though biologically of Abraham, never shared in His same faith in the One true God... #jesus #ApostlePaul #faithfulness #salvation #grace #jews #israel #Abraham #God

October 15, 2023 • Pastor Christopher Thompson • Romans 11:11–21
For centuries, Israel had been unfaithful to the Lord, who had chosen them as His people, yet He refuses to cast them aside. How will God reach Israel? How will the Gentiles be blessed? The picture becomes clearer this week in His Faithfulness Part 2, #jesus #ApostlePaul #faithfulness #salvation #grace
36-Romans
October 8, 2023 • Pastor Christopher Thompson • Romans 11:1–10
For many of us, if we’ve invested considerable resources attempting to convince someone of something and are repeatedly rebuffed, we might give up. Cast that person or persons from our lives and have nothing more to do with them. So, for a people, Israel, who have for centuries been disobedient and contrary to the work of God. A people who had crucified (killed) the Messiah, the Christ they had long awaited…Of these people, Paul asks as we enter chapter 11… 11 …has God cast away His people? This week, we begin Romans chapter 11 with a discussion of "His Faithfulness."
35-Romans: Preachers Needed
October 1, 2023 • Pastor Christopher Thompson • Romans 10:14–21
Last week, we discussed Paul’s desire for his Jewish brothers to come to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He once again affirmed that attempts to work one's way into God’s good grace by keeping the law would never succeed, that it was only through confessing and believing in the Lord Jesus Christ that one might be saved, regardless of the biological lineage one may possess. No matter how much you think, you might be right before God in human terms.
34-Romans: Confess & Believe
September 24, 2023 • Pastor Christopher Thompson • Romans 10:1–13
This week, we return to the book of Romans. When we last left chapter 9, we’d seen Paul’s heart for his countrymen, the Jews, whom he desired to be saved through faith in Christ, for he recognized that many of them held to their lineage of children of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as though this somehow gave them direct access to eternity with God, but Paul recognized the truth that they (and we) need to Confess & Believe.
