God’s Sovereignty and Human Responsibility

Genesis 45:1-11, 50:15-21 and Acts 2:22-24, 4:24-30

September 20, 2020 • Mr. Derek Rishmawy

How do we balance God's sovereignty and human responsibility in our minds and in daily life?

This Sunday we have the privilege of hearing from Derek Rishmawy, our RUF Campus Minister at UCI, on this perplexing question and important topic.

To best prepare for Derek's sermon and our time together, spend 10 minutes reading and meditating on Genesis 45:1-11, 50:15-21, and Acts 2:22-24, 4:24-30.

I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday!

Our in-person worship service is outdoors on the lawn at Temple Bat Yahm at 10:00AM. Masks are required for everyone over the age of 6.

Collective Guilt & the Gospel

October 25, 2020 • Rev. Josh Hahne

This is the final Sunday in the You Asked… sermon series. Over the last several weeks we’ve been bringing our questions to the Scriptures and moving together toward answers. We’ve considered topics as diverse as the Problem of Evil, if miracles continue to occur today, and the Christian vision for sexuality. This Sunday we take up a question that has caught our nation’s attention and is at the center of our discussion about politics, race, and morality—how should we think about collective guilt? Are we corporately responsible for the actions of others who have gone before us? Join us on Sunday for worship on the lawn as we take up this question of collective guilt and think about it in light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Josh

The Christian Vision for Sexuality

October 11, 2020 • Rev. Josh Hahne

This Sunday we are talking about the Christian vision for sex. I presume that I now have your attention and that you (like me) are eager to hear from God’s word on this important topic. See you on Sunday at 10AM for worship on the lawn. Pastor Josh

Understanding Scripture’s Warnings & Promises

October 4, 2020 • Rev. Josh Hahne

“The one who endures to the end will be saved.” Jesus used this refrain to describe the Christian life, but we aren’t sure what to do with it. Is it comforting or convicting? Similarly, how should Christians understand the threats, warnings, and even the reassuring promises we find in Scripture? Unfortunately, we who are tender hearted often understand these words as censure while we who are complacent fail to appreciate the challenge Jesus poses.  Join us on Sunday for worship on the lawn and together we’ll seek to grow in our discipleship to Jesus. Our in-person worship service is outdoors on the lawn at Temple Bat Yahm at 10:00AM. Masks are required for everyone over the age of 6. Pastor Josh
