Collective Guilt & the Gospel

This is the final Sunday in the You Asked… sermon series. Over the last several weeks we’ve been bringing our questions to the Scriptures and moving together toward answers. We’ve considered topics as diverse as the Problem of Evil, if miracles continue to occur today, and the Christian vision for sexuality. This Sunday we take up a question that has caught our nation’s attention and is at the center of our discussion about politics, race, and morality—how should we think about collective guilt? Are we corporately responsible for the actions of others who have gone before us? Join us on Sunday for worship on the lawn as we take up this question of collective guilt and think about it in light of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Josh

Understanding Scripture’s Warnings & Promises

“The one who endures to the end will be saved.” Jesus used this refrain to describe the Christian life, but we aren’t sure what to do with it. Is it comforting or convicting? Similarly, how should Christians understand the threats, warnings, and even the reassuring promises we find in Scripture? Unfortunately, we who are tender hearted often understand these words as censure while we who are complacent fail to appreciate the challenge Jesus poses. Join us on Sunday for worship on the lawn and together we’ll seek to grow in our discipleship to Jesus. Our in-person worship service is outdoors on the lawn at Temple Bat Yahm at 10:00AM. Divorce?

A devastating pestilence has swept across our land and in response we must understand it then take precautions to protect ourselves. We do that with Covid, and we should likewise do so with divorce. This Sunday we continue in our series You Asked…..where we take up your questions, one of which was about how Christians should think about divorce. Thankfully Jesus himself was also asked about divorce in Matthew 19. Join us for worship on the lawn and we’ll consider his answer together.
