The Jewish scribes and Pharisees were steeped in religion, but lacked any relationship with the true Shepherd of Israel, the Lord Jesus Christ. They resented His claim that, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Jesus stepped on to the scene and claimed to be God, and the Good Shepherd of God’s people. In Him we have true salvation and satisfaction!
