The Jewish scribes and Pharisees were steeped in religion, but lacked any relationship with the true Shepherd of Israel, the Lord Jesus Christ. They resented His claim that, “Before Abraham was, I AM.” Jesus stepped on to the scene and claimed to be God, and the Good Shepherd of God’s people. In Him we have true salvation and satisfaction!

There’s a vast difference between knowing about Jesus and believing on Him for salvation. At the tomb of Lazarus, Jesus showed His power over physical death. In our spiritual lives, Jesus shows His power over sin and Satan by making us spiritually alive when we place our trust and faith in Him alone for salvation.
