Home for Christmas | Pastor Steve Forrester | Life Church Calvert
December 24, 2020 • Steve Forrester
“I’ll be home for Christmas.” Those classic lyrics certainly ring true for 2020. Who would have thought this Christmas would find many of us at home? This year has been challenging to say the least. But even though we will not be meeting in person during this Christmas Season, we will still celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
God showed His love for us by sending His Son born a baby with a mission that took Him to the cross. He was the Lamb of God, born to take away the sins of the world. Jesus calls us to love God and to love others. This Christmas, may we remember this amazing love, and show it to a world in need.

Lessons from Christmas: Where is He?
December 17, 2017 • Steve Forrester
The busyness of the holidays can be at times overwhelming. Between errands, events, and obligations we may not know whether we are coming or going. At times it can be easy to have the stuff of the season overshadow the most important thing, Christ the Lord, born to be our savior. Where is He in our lives? May we like the magi of old, look with anticipation for the King and humbly worship at His feet.
Lessons from Christmas: God of Every Circumstance
December 3, 2017 • Steve Forrester • Galatians 4:4–5, Luke 2:7
The Christmas Season is in full swing. Can you believe that it’s only a few weeks away? Decorations are going up. Stores are filled with shoppers and Christmas music. Parties and gatherings are being planned. And yet, in the midst of this celebratory time of year, we recognize that all is not right with the world. Truth be told, often things aren’t right in our own lives. This morning as we begin to look at the Christmas story, may we clearly see that our Heavenly Father is the God of every circumstance.
The Best Christmas Gift
November 27, 2016
As we prepare to enter into the month leading up to Christmas, what is the best Christmas gift of 2016? Is it determined by how big it is, or how expensive it is, or is there something else that determines what is the very best gift?
The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year?
December 4, 2016 • Steve Forrester
The Christmas season is now in full swing, with all the busyness that this time of year holds. With family gatherings, parties, shopping, and travel one can become an exhausted Grinch before Christmas Eve. It can leave us asking "is this really the most wonderful time of the year?" Today as we begin the dash and Christmas , may we be still and find real peace and joy in the person of Jesus Christ.
Mega Joy
December 11, 2016
So what brings you joy? Are you more likely to experience “joy” when you’ve got money in the bank, when things are going well, when you’re able to do the things you want to do, or when others are treating you the way you want to be treated? But what if God has promised us a life of unquenchable joy no matter what our circumstance? This is the proclamation the angel made the night Jesus was born.
It's A Wonderful Life
December 8, 2013 • Steve Forrester
“Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?” -Clarence Oddbody
In the holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life", quintessential everyman George Bailey struggles to see that his life has purpose and significance. In a desperate answer to prayer, God grants him the rare opportunity to see just what everyone's life would be like without him and in the end he realizes just how precious a gift he had been given, and how blessed he was.
What if Jesus had never been born? Can you even imagine for a second what life would be like if Jesus never came? What a hole that would be left. A huge, unfillable void. Have you ever asked Why did Jesus come?
Stuff Is Just Stuff, But Jesus Is Forever
December 1, 2013 • Luke 4:16–21
For some, the days leading up to Christmas are an opportunity to begin the great shopping quest, to shop till you drop. However, more importantly, Christmas is a reminder that Jesus came to provide us something that cannot be purchased.

For Unto Us

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
