Are you more likely to experience “joy” when you’ve got money in the bank, when things are going well, when you’re able to do the things you want to do, or when others are treating you the way you want to be treated? But what if God has promised us a life of unquenchable joy no matter what our circumstance? This is the proclamation the angel made the night Jesus was born.

“I’ll be home for Christmas.” Those classic lyrics certainly ring true for 2020. Who would have thought this Christmas would find many of us at home? This year has been challenging to say the least. But even though we will not be meeting in person during this Christmas Season, we will still celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God showed His love for us by sending His Son born a baby with a mission that took Him to the cross. He was the Lamb of God, born to take away the sins of the world. Jesus calls us to love God and to love others. This Christmas, may we remember this amazing love, and show it to a world in need. The busyness of the holidays can be at times overwhelming. Between errands, events, and obligations we may not know whether we are coming or going. At times it can be easy to have the stuff of the season overshadow the most important thing, Christ the Lord, born to be our savior. Where is He in our lives? May we like the magi of old, look with anticipation for the King and humbly worship at His feet.
