It's A Wonderful Life

December 8, 2013 • Steve Forrester

“Strange, isn’t it? Each man’s life touches so many other lives. When he isn’t around he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?” -Clarence Oddbody

In the holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life", quintessential everyman George Bailey struggles to see that his life has purpose and significance.  In a desperate answer to prayer, God grants him the rare opportunity to see just what everyone's life would be like without him and in the end he realizes just how precious a gift he had been given, and how blessed he was.

What if Jesus had never been born?  Can you even imagine for a second what life would be like if Jesus never came?  What a hole that would be left.  A huge, unfillable void. Have you ever asked Why did Jesus come?

“I’ll be home for Christmas.” Those classic lyrics certainly ring true for 2020. Who would have thought this Christmas would find many of us at home? This year has been challenging to say the least. But even though we will not be meeting in person during this Christmas Season, we will still celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. God showed His love for us by sending His Son born a baby with a mission that took Him to the cross. He was the Lamb of God, born to take away the sins of the world. Jesus calls us to love God and to love others. This Christmas, may we remember this amazing love, and show it to a world in need. Lessons from Christmas: Where is He?

December 17, 2017 • Steve Forrester

The busyness of the holidays can be at times overwhelming. Between errands, events, and obligations we may not know whether we are coming or going. At times it can be easy to have the stuff of the season overshadow the most important thing, Christ the Lord, born to be our savior. Where is He in our lives? May we like the magi of old, look with anticipation for the King and humbly worship at His feet.
