This Sunday at Fellowship, RD presented our budget for the upcoming year. We practice this yearly as our budget is member-approved. But we want to take this one step further: it's not just numbers and finances we want to be known by our body; it's part of the invitation into the work of the Kingdom of God. RD opens Acts 2, where we learn about the early church and how they dedicated themselves to the teaching of the apostles and breaking bread together. The scripture gives us an example of what we are invited into when in the church: a community that gathers, grows, and eats together so they can be sent out into the work of the Kingdom.
Like a Watered Garden
April 14, 2024 • RD McClenagan • Isaiah 58
In RD McClenagan's first sermon as Lead Pastor of Fellowship, he teaches from Isaiah 58, emphasizing the concept of the church as a "watered garden," representing a thriving, abundant, and interdependent community under God's nourishment. He explores how the church should not be self-serving but should be vibrant and supportive, with members depending on each other to flourish, reflecting God’s unchanging vision and heart as revealed through Isaiah. RD calls us to actively embody the gospel by serving and supporting one another, thereby extending the church’s mission beyond its walls into the broader community, fulfilling the vision of being a dynamic, life-giving "watered garden" in their surroundings.
Well Loved to Love Well
April 7, 2024 • Rick Dunn • Joshua 1:5–6, Psalm 78:18
In Rick Dunn's final sermon as Lead Pastor of Fellowship, he looks at the story of Joshuah and encourages us to look to, run to, and run with God. He speaks of the importance of surrendering and being present with humility and vulnerability, rather than relying on performance or power. Rick reflects on his personal growth, recognizing the shift from a mindset of proving oneself to surrendering to God's grace and love. He encourages us to embrace the unknown journey of faith and trust in God's presence and guidance for the future.
This week, due to snow, RD McClenagan shares an online devotional exploring the practical aspects of our "Two Questions" liturgy.
The Way of Leading
October 15, 2023 • Rick Dunn • 1 Chronicles 14, 2 Chronicles 20
This week, RD McClenagan was confirmed as the new Lead Pastor of Fellowship. Rick Dunn teaches from 1 and 2 Chronicles on the vision for what leadership has been and what it will be at Fellowship and has a conversation with RD about his heart for the next season.
Taking Our Next Step Together
April 16, 2023 • Rick Dunn • 2 Timothy 2:1–2
This week, Rick Dunn teaches on 2 Timothy 2:1-2. In these verses, Paul is writing to Timothy from prison about taking his next steps. Timothy is fearful, forgetful, and very hesitant to step into his role following Paul. But, Paul asks him to remember that he is strong in the grace of Christ. Rick Dunn and the elders announced that they are beginning the process of identifying and transitioning to the next Lead Pastor of Fellowship Church.
The Future: A War for Hope
January 22, 2023 • Rick Dunn • 1 Peter 1:13
This week, the last in a 3-week series on being renewed in Christ, Rick speaks on the future and keeping our hope in Christ. To keep our hope in Him, we must remember Him and His promises and not forget who He is or who we are in Him.
Renewal Today
January 15, 2023 • JC Neely • Ephesians 4
This week, the second in a 3-week series on being renewed in Christ, JC speaks on how we follow God today - not just looking ahead at ideas and visions for the future, but what God has for us now.
Facing Your Past
January 8, 2023 • RD McClenagan • John 18, John 21
This week, we begin a 3-week series on being renewed in Christ and RD looks at how we need to face our past. God uses our brokeness from the past to prepare for what He has for us, to make us stronger. God loves us in every part of our story, but calls us to healing.
The Story of Glory
August 28, 2022 • RD McClenagan • John 17
This week, RD McClenagan teaches on the Glory of God. God exists for His own glory, and there is no weight or significance greater the Him. The Son has been glorifying the Father, the Father the Spirit, and the Spirit the Son since the beginning of time. Because we are made in the image of God, we were created so that we could share in His glory. The enemy tries to convince us that we can have glory separate from God, but we are to reflect God's glory.
Throughout the month of August, the teaching team will look at the things that are most important to us at Fellowship. This week, Greg Pinkner teaches from 2 Timothy on the essential nature of Scripture. In today's culture, through the deconstruction of Christianity, we have lost the truth, but there is only one way to know exactly what God says and what He expects, which is through the Bible. Losing the Bible as our cornerstone for truth is the path to unsteadiness in our hearts and minds.
A New Conversation: Abortion
Rick Dunn, Stacie Johnson • Acts 17:22–31, 2 Corinthians 5:17–20
This week, Sanctity of Life Sunday, Rick Dunn and Stacie Johnson discuss how we as new people need to step in to have new conversations with those around us on hard things. God seeks out those who feel unseen, unknown, unloved, and unworthy to bring hope and calls us to do the same. Rick and Stacie's conversation focused on abortion: defining "what is the unborn," how to walk with those who have abortion as part of their story, and how God can renew those places.
A Vision for Exiles in the 2020's
January 17, 2021 • Rick Dunn • 1 Peter
This week, Rick teaches from I Peter 2:9-17 on A Vision for Exiles in the 2020’s. For us to live the life God calls us to, we must understand what it means to live in exile. Rick details our vision, presence, mission, passion, and moment as exiles so that we may walk in the rightness of Jesus.
All Things New
January 3, 2021 • Zach Hume • Luke 4
Zach teaches the first Gospel Sunday of 2021 from Luke 4. The first Sunday of each month, we focus specifically on the good news of the story of Jesus. Coming out of the Advent Season, Zach paused to ask why Jesus took on human flesh and stepped into our world. In Luke 4:42-43, Jesus gave us His Missions Statement: “I have come to bring the good news of the Kingdom of God.” Zach remind us that with Adam and Eve’s rebellion in Genesis, sin entered the world and ruined everything. The sin inside of us is far too great for us to overcome on our own. But, Jesus declares that He has come to bring a new Kingdom, a Kingdom of Good News, and as followers of Christ, we have been invited and called to participate in the expansion of God’s Kingdom and the making of all things new.
