Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins...” Acts 2:38

一方通行の道を逆走するのは愚かで危険です。知らずにしてしまう人もいれば、反抗心からする人もいます。いずれにせよ、霊的にも同じことが言えます。無知からであろうと、反抗心からであろうと、私たちは皆、危険な一方通行の道を歩んでおり、その最終地点は、神との永遠の分離なのです。私たちが方向転換(悔い改め)をし、キリストに従うことを始めなければ、一歩一歩、誤った方向へ、つまり神と逆の方へと足を進めているのです。
Driving a car in the wrong direction on a one-way street is foolish and dangerous. Some drive the wrong way out of ignorance; others out of rebellion. There is a spiritual parallel. Whether out of ignorance or rebellion, we are all on a dangerous one-way street that will ultimately lead to eternal separation from God. Until we turn around (repent) and begin following Christ, every step we take is a step in the wrong direction – a step away from God.

悔い改め、悲しみ、実Repentance, Sorrow, and Fruit
私たちが心から自分の罪を悔いるとき、本物の悔い改めが始まります。この「神のみこころに添った悲しみ」は、言い訳はせず、全責任をとり、人や社会や状況のせいにしません。自分の罪は、第一に神に逆らっていることであると認めます。神のみこころに添った悲しみは、真の悔い改めをもたらし、人生が変えられるのです。
Real repentance begins when we are truly sorry for our sins. This “godly sorrow” makes no excuses, takes full responsibility, and never places blame on people, society, or circumstances. It acknowledges that our sin is primarily against God. Godly sorrow produces true repentance and a changed life.

神のみこころに添った悲しみは、悔いのない、救いに至る悔い改めを生じさせますが、世の悲しみは死をもたらします。2コリント7:10
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. 2 Corinthians 7:10

私は、自分の罪を、あなたに知らせ、私の咎を隠しませんでした。私は申しました。「私のそむきの罪を主に告白しよう。」すると、あなたは私の罪のとがめを赦されました。詩篇32:5
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Psalm 32:5

一方、この世の悲しみによって生じるものは、言い訳だけです。みこころに添った悲しみは、聖なる神に自分が反抗していたことに気づき、心が砕かれます。この世の悲しみは、自分が捕まってしまったことや、罪の代償を払わなければならないことを悲しむのです。この二つの悲しみの究極的な違いは、実です。この世の悲しみによっては、人生が変えられたという実は絶対に実りません。霊的な死のみが生じるのです。
On the other hand, “worldly sorrow” only produces excuses. While godly sorrow is having a broken heart when we realize we have offended a holy God, worldly sorrow is being sorry we got caught, or being sorry we have to suffer the consequences of sin. The ultimate difference between godly sorrow and worldly sorrow is the fruit. Worldly sorrow never produces the fruit of a changed life; it only produces spiritual death.

悔い改めて神に立ち返り、悔い改めにふさわしい行いをするようにと宣べ伝えて来たのです。使徒26:20
“... I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds.” Acts 26:20

悔い改めと赦しRepentance and Forgiveness
ルカ15:11-24にある、放蕩息子のたとえ話は真の悔い改めを描いています。自己中心的でいいかげんな息子が正気を取り戻し、だらしない生活に別れを告げて、父のもとに帰ってくる話です。彼は180度方向転換しました。以前の罪と反抗に満ちた生活に決別したのです。彼の父親は息子を赦し、彼を受け入れました。同じように、天の父も私たちが神に立ち返り、罪を悔い改めるとき、私たちを赦してくださるのです。
The parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-24 is a beautiful picture of true repentance. The wayward son came to his senses, turned his back on his folly, and returned to his father. He made a 180-degree turn around, walking away from his former life of sin and rebellion. His father forgave him for his offenses and received him back. In the same way, our Heavenly Father is faithful to forgive us when we turn to Him and repent of our sins.

あなたがたの罪をぬぐい去っていただくために、悔い改めて、神に立ち返りなさい。使徒3:19
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord... Acts 3:19

シャツについたしみがどうしてもとれないという経験がありますか。しみだけでなく、シャツ自体を新品同様にするようなしみ抜き洗剤があると想像してみてください。私たちが悔い改め、イエスを主、救い主として受け入れるとき、まさにそのことが起こるのです。イエスは罪責感という罪のしみだけでなく、恥をも私たちの心からきれいに取り除いてくださるのです。そして、私たちに新しい心をくださるのです。
Ever had a stain on your shirt that you couldn’t wash out? Imagine a stain remover that would not only remove the stain, but would make the shirt just like new again. That’s what happens when we repent and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He not only cleans the sin’s stain of guilt and shame from our hearts, He gives us a new heart.

もし、私たちが自分の罪を言い表すなら、神は真実で正しい方ですから、その罪を赦し、すべての悪から私たちをきよめてくださいます。1ヨハネ1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

後ろ髪を引かれないNo Regret
悔い改めとは、罪から離れ、神の方に向かうことです。それは、自分自身の良い行ないや、宗教的な行動で満足することをやめ、キリストだけに信頼を置くことを意味します。かつては間違った方向に向かっていましたが、今、正しい道を歩み始めるのです。悔い改めは、新しい人生の出発点です。悔い改めとは、自己中心の人生という堂々巡りの道から離れて、神が私たちの人生に与えられた輝かしい目的に向かって用意された、最善の道に身を置くことなのです。神に立ち返るということは、振り返らず、後ろ髪を引かれない、という意味なのです。
Repentance is turning away from sin and turning to God. It means we stop trusting in our own good deeds and religious activity and start trusting in Christ alone. We were going in the wrong direction; now we are going in the right direction. We were running from God; now we are walking with Him. Repentance is the starting point of a new life. Repentance takes us off the treadmill of a self-centered life and puts us on the fast track of God’s glorious purpose for our lives. Turning to God means no looking back and no regrets.

"はじめに INTRODUCTION

1974年から1979年にかけて、ロンという長老派の牧師が、私の故郷であるミシシッピー州のジャクソンという町の高校を何度も訪れ、大胆に福音を語りました。聞いてくれる人なら誰にでも、また聞いてくれないような人にも語りました。彼を通して、数えきれないほどの十代の若者が初めて神の救いの計画を耳にし、理解しました。何百人もの人が応答し、その中でたくさんの人が教会開拓者、若者への伝道者、牧師、宣教師としてフルタイムで神に仕える者となりました。 From 1974-1979, a young upstart Presbyterian youth pastor named Ron invaded local high schools in my hometown of Jackson, Mississippi boldly sharing the gospel one-on-one with anyone who would listen, and with some who wouldn’t. Over the years, countless teenagers heard and understood God’s plan of salvation for the first time. Hundreds responded. However, my first response to Ron and his gospel was not to repent, but to run. I ran from Ron, from his disciples, and from God. I ran for about six months, avoiding Ron the best I could. But it was a difficult task, because he was around the school a lot, always helping various students. Thankfully, he and his band of disciples continued inviting me to their bible studies and church events. I repented and put my faith in Christ alone. Fortunately, it didn’t end there. Ron wasn’t content just to carve a notch in his well-worn Bible to represent yet another soul saved. Since he was not out to save souls, but to train strong, healthy Christians, his work with me was just beginning. 救い SALVATION

新しいスタートA New Start だれでもキリストのうちにあるなら、その人は新しく造られた者です。古いものは過ぎ去って、見よ、すべてが新しくなりました。2コリント5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 新しくされる。再出発。もう一度やり直せたら、と思っている人には、嬉しい言葉でしょう。ですが、なぜ自分がやり直さなければならないのか、きちんと理解する必要があります。なぜ私たちは「新しく造られた者」にならなければならないのでしょうか。なぜ救いが必要なのでしょうか。 A new creation. A fresh start. For all of us who have ever wished we could start over, this is good news. However before we can really appreciate this good news, we need to understand exactly why we need to start over. Why do we need to become a “new creation”? Why do we need salvation? 分離Separation 神と人間の間には、はかりしれないほどの隔たりがあります。神と人間の間の永遠の隔たりの原因は罪です。 There is an immeasurable gap separating God and man. The cause of this eternal separation between God and man is sin. 神がすごく遠い存在に感じたことはありませんか。誰しもそう思ったことがあるでしょう。神が遠く感じられることはよくあることです。そのような人の多くは、もっと熱心に黙想すれば、その宗教のことをもっとよく学べば、あるいは、その宗教の建物に足を踏み入れれば、もっと近くに神が感じられるかもしれない、と思いがちです。けれども、神から離れているのは、物理的な問題でも、知的な問題でもないので、黙想も知識もこの場合役に立ちません。では、その原因は何でしょう。 Have you ever felt distant from God? We all have. Feeling far from God is very common. Many who sense this vast separation suppose that if they meditate harder, learn more about their religion, or just step into a religious sanctuary, they would be closer to God. But since our separation from God is not physical or intellectual, neither meditation nor knowledge can bring us any closer to God. What causes the separation between God and man? 1見よ。主の御手が短くて救えないのではない。その耳が遠くて、聞こえないのではない。2 あなたがたの咎が、あなたがたと、あなたがたの神との仕切りとなり、あなたがたの罪が御顔を隠させ、聞いてくださらないようにしたのだ。イザヤ59:1, 2 1 Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. Isaiah 59:1, 2 神と人間の間の隔たりは道徳的なものです。神は聖なる方ですが、人間はそうではありません。神は良い方ですが、人間は違います。神は正しいですが、人間は正しくありません。すべての人が罪を犯しました。ですから、すべての人が永遠に神から離れて、永遠の死という罪の結果に苦しむのです。 The separation between God and man is a moral separation. God is holy; man is not. God is good; man is not. God is just; man is not. All men have sinned; therefore, all are eternally separated from God. Romans 6:23 解決策Solution 神の捧げ物と身代わりGod’s Sacrifice and Substitution 神はその正義により、人間の罪をつぐなう捧げ物を求めておられます。イエス・キリストがその捧げ物となり、十字架において私たちの罪の代価を払ってくださったのです。 The justice of God demands a sacrifice for man’s sin. Jesus Christ became that sacrifice and paid the penalty for our sin at the cross. 神はきよく、道徳的に正しく、公正な方なので、罪を見逃すことはされません。でも同時に、愛にあふれ、慈悲深い方ですから、すべての人が永遠にご自分から離れていることは我慢ならないのです。この問題に対して神のくださった解決方法は、神のひとり子であるイエスを、私たちの罪のいけにえとして与えることでした。 Since God is holy, righteous, and just, He could not allow sin to go unpunished. Since He is loving and compassionate, he did not want all of mankind to be eternally separated from Him. The divine solution to this problem was for Jesus, God’s only Son, to become the sacrifice for sin. 26...しかしキリストは、ただ一度、今の世の終わりに、ご自身をいけにえとして罪を取り除くために、来られたのです。27そして、人間には、一度死ぬことと死後にさばきを受けることが定まっているように、28キリストも、多くの人の罪を負うために一度、ご自身をささげられましたが、二度目は、罪を負うためではなく、彼を待ち望んでいる人々の救いのために来られるのです。へブル9:26-28 26... But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27 Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, 28 so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. Hebrews 9:26-28 十字架で何が起こったのでしょう。十字架の死によって、イエスは私たちの身代わりとなり、私たちが受けるべきだった罰を受けてくださいました。神はご自分の正しさを、私たちの罪と交換してくださったのです。私たちの呪いを取り去り、祝福をくださったのです。イエスは罪の全くない人生をおくった方なので、人間の罪の報いを代わりに受け、神と人間の間の溝を橋渡しすることのできる唯一相応しい方でした。 What exactly happened on the cross? Through His death on the cross, Jesus took our place and our punishment. He exchanged His righteousness for our sin. He took our curse and gave us His blessings. Because of His sinless life, Jesus was the only one qualified to pay the penalty for man’s sin and to bridge the gap between God and man. 神は、罪を知らない方を、私たちの代わりに罪とされました。それは、私たちが、この方にあって、神の義となるためです。2コリント5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 キリストは、私たちのためにのろわれたものとなって、私たちを律法ののろいから贖い出してくださいました。なぜなら、「木にかけられる者はすべてのろわれたものである」と書いてあるからです。ガラテヤ3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” Galatians 3:13 結果Result 私たちの救いと和解Our Salvation and Reconciliation キリストが十字架で死んでくださったので、私たちは罪の赦しを受け取り、神と和解し、永遠のいのちを得ることができるのです。 Christ died on the cross so that we could receive forgiveness of our sins, be reconciled to God, and have eternal life. 私たちは皆、きよく正しい神に対して罪を犯しました。罪の報いは、地獄で神から永遠に引き離されることです。神は正義の方ですから、罪に必ず罰を与えます。同時に、愛にあふれた方でもあるので、私たちが永遠に地獄に落ちるのを見たくないのです。このようなわけで、十字架で死ぬことによって罪の代価を支払うために、ひとり子であるイエス・キリストをこの世に送ってくださいました。イエスは罪を全く犯したことのない方なので、死によって束縛されませんでした。三日後に死からよみがえられたのです。キリストにおいて、私たちは罪の赦しと永遠のいのちを体験します。キリストにおいて、私たちは回復されて神の御前に立ち、神の子どもとして新しいいのちが与えられるのです。 We have all sinned against a holy and righteous God. The penalty for sin is eternal separation from God in hell. God is just and must punish sin. He is also loving and does not want us to go to hell forever. Therefore, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for sin by dying on the cross. Because of His sinless life, death could not hold Jesus. He was raised from the dead on the third day. In Christ, we experience forgiveness for our sins and eternal life. In Him we are restored to right standing before God and given a new life as His children. 神は、実に、そのひとり子をお与えになったほどに、世を愛された。それは御子を信じる者が、ひとりとして滅びることなく、永遠のいのちを持つためである。ヨハネ3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 この方にあって私たちは、その血による贖い、罪の赦しを受けています。これは神の豊かな恵みによることです。エペソ1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace... Ephesians 2:13 応答The Response 信仰によって神の贈り物を受け取るReceive God’s Gift by Faith 自分を信じることをやめ、キリストが私たちのためにしてくださったことに信頼するとき、私たちは救いを受け取ります。 We receive salvation when we stop trusting in ourselves and put our trust in what Christ did for us. 私たちの救いは神の恵みの結果です。それは、イエスが私たちのために十字架でしてくださったことに基づいています。私たちがイエスに何をするかは関係ありません。私たちは自分で自分を救ったり、良い行いによって神の承認を得ることはできないのです。自分には救い主が必要であると認め、罪から立ち返り、イエス・キリストを主、そして救い主として受け入れ、イエス・キリストに救いの信頼を置くとき、私たちは神の恵みによって救われるのです。 Our salvation is a result of God’s grace. It is based on what Jesus did for us on the cross. It has nothing to do with what we do for Him. We cannot save ourselves or earn God’s approval through the good works we do. We are saved by God’s grace when we realize our need for a Savior, turn from sin, and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, putting our trust in Him alone for salvation. 9なぜなら、もしあなたの口でイエスを主と告白し、あなたの心で神はイエスを死者の中からよみがえらせてくださったと信じるなら、あなたは救われるからです。10人は心に信じて義と認められ、口で告白して救われるのです。ローマ10:9-10 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9, 10 8あなたがたは、恵みのゆえに、信仰によって救われたのです。それは、自分自身から出たことではなく、神からの賜物です。9行いによるのではありません。だれも誇ることのないためです。エペソ2:8-9 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9 自分にあてはめてみましょう Personal Application 自分に頼るのをやめ、キリストにのみ信頼して、救いを得る決心をしましたか。 Have you stopped trusting in yourself and started trusting in Christ alone for salvation? 自分のしたことで思い浮かぶ罪から、立ち去ることができましたか。 Have you turned away from all known sin? イエスを人生の主とすることを、口で告白しましたか。 Have you confessed Jesus as the Lord and master of your life? これからの人生を、神に従い、ついて行く気持ちがありますか。。 Are you willing to follow and obey Him for the rest of your life? 救いの祈りPrayer for Salvation 天のお父様、私とあなたが遠く離れているのは、自分の罪のためだとわかりました。私は罪を犯しました。あなたの栄光からは、ほど遠い所にいます。ひとり子であるイエス様を送ってくださり、私の罪の罰を代わりに受けてくださってありがとうございます。イエス様が私のために十字架で死んでくださったことを信じます。あなたがイエス様を死からよみがえらせてくださったことを信じます。私は罪を犯しました。ごめんなさい。私をゆるし、きよめてください。聖書で罪と定めているすべてのものから、離れたいです。そして、あなたを私の主、救い主、支配してくださる方として受け入れたいです。どうか、これからずっと、あなたを愛し、仕え、従うことができるように助けてください。イエス様のお名前によって祈ります。アーメン。 Heavenly Father ...
