The Gospel Of Matthew

The End Of The Age Discourse | Chapters 24-25

Are You Ready?

April 28, 2024 • Guest Speaker: Rich Kopanke • Matthew 24:36–51

If you've been a Christian for a while then you've probably heard a sermon or two on the theme of Jesus' second coming...but how much does that teaching actually affect your life? Does it alter the value that you place on certain things? Does it cause you to think twice before choosing things which are contrary to God's values? In this passage Jesus drives home both the need to be prepared...and the danger of becoming complacent with this age-old teaching.

How To Wait For Christ's Return

April 28, 2024 • Dr. Jorge Salazar • Matthew 24:36–51

We don’t like waiting and our patience gets exhausted quickly. However, for those who are in Christ, the waiting for His return brings great blessings and an immeasurable joy. Today, as we study this passage, we’ll learn what is expected of us as we wait for the certain return of our Lord and Saviour.

The Faithful Servant

April 28, 2024 • Matt Boettcher • Matthew 24:36–51

As we look at the world around us we can be overcome with a sense of uncertainty, however scripture tells us that Jesus' return is most certainly... certain. Using parables and taking a look back to Noah, Jesus is urging his disciples to be vigilant and ready for His triumphant return. We must be prepared, for His coming will be sudden, and upon His return, may Jesus find us living as His faithful servants.

Why You Want to be Left Behind

April 28, 2024 • Pastor Chris Ross • Matthew 24:36–51

Jesus is clear that no one will be able to predict the timing of his return. Jesus says that his return and judgment will be unexpected and therefore he encourages his disciples to “stay awake” and “be ready” by living faithful lives for him rather than obsessing about dates and times. He warns his disciples against living worldly lives as though a judgment will never come.

The Words Of Jesus

April 21, 2024 • Pastor Jonathan Neufeld • Matthew 24:32–35

As Jesus tells his disciples about his second coming, he tells them that it will not be far off. Now two thousand years later that can seem difficult to believe, but Jesus’ words are no less true today. We can trust the everlasting words of Jesus as he promises us that he is coming again soon.

The Lesson Of The Fig Tree

April 21, 2024 • Pastor Eldon Fehr • Matthew 24:32–35

Using the illustration of a tree that buds in spring, Jesus teaches us to be watchful for the signs of His imminent return, which is as sure as His words. The trustworthiness of God’s Word is what guides us as we long for, and hasten, His appearing.

Christ's Certain Coming

April 21, 2024 • Pastor Jeremy Isaak • Matthew 24:32–35

After almost 2,000 years since Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 24 that his return was near, we’re still waiting… Did we miss his coming?! Did Jesus get his timing wrong? Can we even trust the words of Jesus to begin with?! Through Matthew 24:32-35 and other texts this sermon seeks to make the case that Jesus didn’t get it wrong. Christ’s second coming is indeed both near and certain. God’s word can be trusted.

Why Trust The Bible

In the midst of speaking about the end times Jesus delivers a powerful statement about the absolute dependability, divine authority, and eternal nature of His words. This sermon explores why the Bible is trustworthy in light of Jesus.

What Comes Next

April 14, 2024 • Pastor Jonathan Neufeld • Matthew 24:15–31

As Jesus teaches his disciples about what will happen at the End Times, he gives them warnings about what will happen next. Jesus warns them about the disasters that will take place, but also the false prophets who will come. He calls his disciples to heed his warnings and endure faithfully as they wait for his return.

A Day, Those Days, And The Day

April 14, 2024 • Jayeson Wall • Matthew 24:15–31

Jesus continues to unpack the complicated and convoluted question of the disciples at the beginning of Matthew 24. As Jesus points to his ultimate return and coronation as King we learn to expect suffering, be wary of false messiahs, and get about the kingdom business of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because our only hope is found in Him as King and Savior.

It's The End Of The World As We Know It And I Feel Fine

April 14, 2024 • Pastor Jonathan Kornelsen • Matthew 24:15–31

Matthew 24:15-31 Jesus shares about the great tribulation, which reminds us of the tumultuous times ahead, where uncertainty and chaos may abound. Yet, amidst this foreboding storm, it's crucial to anchor ourselves in the unwavering truth that Jesus is who he says he is, and he will reign supreme. His sovereignty helps us walk through all earthly trials and tribulations, offering hope and peace in the face of adversity.

Enduring To The End

April 7, 2024 • Pastor Kurtus Niessen • Matthew 24:1–14

Few passages in the Bible have been a hotly debated as the “End of the Age Discourse” in Matthew. But while our minds are often drawn to the when and what of how all these things will take place, we must first remember Jesus’ primary aim in speaking these words. To exhort and encourage His followers to remain faithful and endure until the end, whenever that is. By heeding Jesus’ words to avoid deception and alarm, we can more effectively proclaim the gospel of the kingdom to the whole world as a testimony to all nations.

The Space Between

April 14, 2024 • Pastor Kurtus Niessen • Matthew 24:15–31

In Matthew 24, Jesus speaks about two particular mountain peaks of human history: the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, and Jesus’ final return. But what do we do with the space between? Thankfully, in the End of the Age Discourse, Jesus speaks into this space known as the Gospel Age, by giving us several imperatives about how we can live faithfully as we eagerly await His return in the face of similar trials
