6 - All Things Are Possible Mark 9:14-29

When the disciples are unable to help a man’s son who is possessed by a demon, Jesus calls upon the father to have faith and believe. The father acknowledges his spiritual weakness and asks Jesus to give him faith. Rather than chide him for his unbelief, Jesus responds to his cry.

A young man thinks that his acts of righteousness should secure him eternal life. Jesus reveals the duplicity of the young man’s heart by instructing him to sell all that he has. Regrettably, “he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.” (Mark 10:22b). We must never allow the accumulation of earthly wealth to supersede our love for God. 1.
