Jehovah's Witness mindset can be difficult to penetrate when you're trying to reach a loved one involved in the Jehovah's Witness religion. Fear is a strong motivator and, when it is coupled with religious zeal, being told everyone else is influenced by the devil, fear is a powerful tool to keep their victims trapped. Equating "God" to the leadership, anything anyone says to deter their loyalty only triggers these fears to keep their minds closed. This is why fear-based religion is so controlling both physically and mentally. The key to reaching someone in a fear-based religion, like Jehovah's Witnesses, is to carefully approach them as a student, willing to learn, without sacrificing your integrity, let them teach you and through your questions, they will discover for themselves what is true or not about their religious system.
