SSRI's (serotonin specific reuptake inhibitors) are widely used to treat anxiety and depression. While they are effective in many cases, they often have untoward side effects and are difficult to discontinue. This video explores some of the good and the bad of them.

Stopping or discontinuing an SSRI can be difficult because of the withdrawal symptoms, including things like irritability, anxiety, "brain zaps," flu-like symptoms, and return of depression. If side effects are an issue, it may be possible to adjust the dose or add another agent before stopping. Talk to your doctor, but this video explores a few options.
