Afraid of Where We Stand With God

In the first Christmas story, fear was everywhere. Over 2000 years later, we still have many of the same fears. We know that we're often paralyzed by what we're afraid of.

In this message, Pastor Lance will finish our series, Do Not Be Afraid, talking about something many of us are afraid of but don't talk about, where we stand with God.

The shepherds' story is remarkable because it demonstrates how God announced the birth of the Messiah to people considered unlikely to receive such a message. This is a powerful reminder that no matter how far we may feel from God, how low we may perceive ourselves to be, or how much we may believe our sins to have separated us from Him, we are never beyond the reach of His grace.

And the truth is they can be so obsessed with what people think about them that it keeps them from what God wants for their lives. It's possible that Joseph, Jesus's earthly father, wrestled with what others thought about him. We want God's blessings but don't want to surrender ourselves completely to Him. We're afraid that He might ask us to do something we don't want to do.
