A Series Through The Psalms

Psalm 100

August 6, 2023 • Pastor Nathan Naoumi • Psalm 100

There are so many ways that God has showed His love for us. We see His love in the things He created for us, in the Bible He's given us, and most importantly, by the gift of His only Son that He sent to die for our sin. However, this week’s sermon discusses one of the ways that we can, in turn, show our love for God. Of course, there are many ways that we can show God our love toward Him, but Psalm 100 talks about one specific way we can show love to our Lord—through our worship.

Psalm 73

July 30, 2023 • Pastor Brett Capaci • Psalm 73

In the Psalm that we examine this week during our Summer Playlist series, the writer, Asaph, seems to be doubting God’s goodness to him. He’s struggling with understanding what he should truly be grateful for. Yet, as we work our way through this 73rd Psalm, we begin to discover (along with Asaph) what true blessing, goodness and even true wealth really is, and why we ought to be eternally grateful to God.

Psalm 63

July 23, 2023 • Pastor Nathan Naoumi • Psalm 63

If there’s ever a truer statement it would be that David was close to the Lord. We see this not only when things are going well. We see this when everything has gone wrong. Psalm 63 is just that, a Psalm where David pours out his heart to God. The contrast of being in a wilderness and drawing near to God is powerful. It communicates what David values most. Let’s turn our attention to Psalm 63.

Psalm 42

July 16, 2023 • Pastor Nathan Naoumi • Psalm 47

Psalm 19

July 9, 2023 • Pastor Noah O'Kelley • Psalm 19

From the very beginning of time, Satan has been doing all he can to get men and women to doubt God. He wants to manipulate individuals to the point where they not only don't trust in God, but that they will firmly believe that God doesn't even exist. Yet, in the book of Psalms 53:1, King David declares: “Only fools say in their hearts, there is no God.” Because there is more than enough evidence to prove God exists. But what is it and where is this evidence found? In the 19th Psalm, David tells us why he believed in God. He distinctively lists 3 areas in which God declares His existence.

Psalm 27

July 2, 2023 • Pastor Rodney Julian • Psalm 27

Anxiety and fear are one of the many struggles that plague our lives, and it often stems from a lack of prayer and consistent communication with God. The closer we are to Him, the more we can trust Him. And even when we can’t see his hand at work in our lives, we can trust His heart for us is good and faithful. Through prayer, we can fight back against anxiety and fear. And while trusting in God won’t erase all our problems, it will for sure shift our perspective.

Psalm 51

June 25, 2023 • Pastor Nathan Naoumi • Psalm 51

Psalm 51 is a chapter that unpacks the heart of David’s response toward his sin. Although David was king, he made some pretty bad decisions, and his decisions led to bad consequences. However, Psalm 51 shows us that in the wreckage of his sin, God continued to forgive. When we repent, God forgives. Repentance and forgiveness are a part of God’s grace working in us. Let’s lean in to see what genuine repentance really looks like.

Psalm 1

June 18, 2023 • Pastor Nathan Naoumi • Psalm 1

Psalm 1 can be considered as the “door” to the Book of Psalms. It gives us an overview of what the whole of the Book of Psalms is all about - The Way of the Righteous & Blessedness and the Way of the Wicked & Death. We’ll see that this Psalms teaches us the key to true joy & lasting happiness.

Psalm 13

June 11, 2023 • Pastor Noah O'Kelley • Psalm 13

Scripture is filled with the struggles of life. It doesn’t shy away from that reality. Jesus even said that “in this life we will have trouble.” However, the joy is, Jesus overcomes the world. Because He lives, we live. This is truth we need to cling to while we are going through our various challenges of life. In Psalm 13 we see David struggling. This personal journal entry reveals to us his heart on paper. Let’s turn our attention to this Psalm of desperation to see what we can learn.

Psalm 23

June 4, 2023 • Pastor Nathan Naoumi • Psalm 23

As we launch a sermon series walking through several of the Psalms, we will see that they both speak to and affirm the full range of human emotions. This first week we will look at perhaps the most famous of the Psalms, the 23rd. As you work your way through Psalm 23, you’ll discover that it’s predominantly about dealing with physical, emotional stress. The author, David, certainly knew what stress was all about. Yet in this beautiful Psalm, he unpacks how the Good Shepherd enabled him to deal with stress.
