In Judges 7 & 8, we see Gideon's pursuit, not of an enemy, but h own glory. His lust for power ultimately leads to him unknowingly laying a trap of idolatry for Israel.
In Judges 17 & 18, we see the continued spiritual decline of the people of God because they have no King, no ears to hear the Word of the Lord, no heart for God, and only misguided glory-seeking.
