First Peter Chapter 4

We all know that our battle is not against flesh and blood. We know that the weapons of spiritual warfare that God equips us with is mighty, mighty for bringing down those strongholds. We know in Ephesians chapter six that Paul goes through a list of those weapons, in order that we would be thoroughly equip, for the battle. But Peter, in this fourth chapter of his first epistle, he speaks about a weapon, a weapon that is powerful, a weapon that is going to not only work against the enemy, but bring about a most significant change in your life, in my life.

And the question that I want to pose to each of us not just tonight, but throughout this weekend is this When these things begin to become more intense persecution for walking and faithfulness? How are you going to respond? Will your behavior match your profession? Are you going to have a walk that truly honors God. And I believe that when we open up Peter's first epistle, that he provides much information, in order that our profession will indeed be accompanied by righteous behavior, by an obedience that truly testifies that our faith is not in ourselves or in anyone other than our Lord and Savior, Messiah

When you hear about God's wonderful inheritance that He has for you, that is immortal, it does not corrupt, it is eternal for you. What does that make you want to do? Well, Peters going to answer that question, and the second half of chapter one. So take out your Bible and look with me to that section, First Peter, chapter one, and we're going to begin in verse 13

Do you want to live a sanctified life? That is, do you want to be a vessel, where the power of God, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, is clearly seen in you and through you, that you become an individual that has a godly influence on others, and that you are able to submit to God and be a blessing in the life of others. Now, it's easy to say, Yes, I do. The question is, that's not enough. So what is it that we must do, if those things are going to become a reality in our life? Well, that's what Peter is going to share with us, beginning in chapter two.
