There is a way that the church should live and act within society. As Christians, it is so important how we live our life in this world. How we live represents what's inside of us, and if others see what's inside not representing who we say we are, then we are not going to be effective to what the Lord is calling us to.

This week, Senior Pastor Scott Hobbs summed up our series on Titus by spending time in Chapter 3 of Titus. Just like the church on the island in Crete, we too should be focusing on the most important things, which keeps us doing the right things, we must guard our unity around the Truth, and we must grow together in unity and surrender to Him. When we begin to focus on these things as the most important things, we begin to meet the needs of our community and in return, it spreads the gospel!

Why we do should always drive what we do! It seems like a simple enough statement, but it really should be the heartfelt approach of the church in every decision that is made! What's our why? It should be to share the hope of our Savior with all those that we meet! It's that we choose to live differently because we have this hope in our Savior, who is purifying us as we learn how to walk in His example. As we take a look at Titus chapter 2 where Paul is addressing Titus and the church on the island in Crete, we see a mirror image of our own culture and sometimes the church. Just as they were reminded so many years ago, we need to make sure we are hearing and teaching the Truth. We don't reconcile the Bible to the culture or our feelings to what we preach. We surround ourselves with mentors of the faith so that from one generation to another, we may continue to teach the Truth.

Many times, we find that the church is influenced by what is happening in the culture around us. What we believe and what we deem as truth can often be persuaded by those around us rather than the the church measuring everything they believe and do based on the foundation of Jesus. This is not a new concept and is exactly the snapshot of what we see happening to the church in Crete as Senior Pastor Scott Hobbs digs into our new sermon series based on the book of Titus. We need to make sure, as the church, we are building on the right foundation of Jesus Christ. "All other ground is sinking sand." If we can as a church be more concerned with His Presence than our preferences and choose leaders that follow this important requirement, we will find that our jobs, our relationships, and our church will be grounded on a foundation that is not swayed by shirting culture.
