We have seen through Romans 8 that God is for us. But, will he always be for us? Romans 8 begins with “no condemnation” and ends with “no separation”. No one and nothing can ever separate us from God’s steadfast love. This assurance provides hope and confidence in a world filled with tribulation and distress.
Facing Life With Confidence Pt. 2
August 25, 2024 • Pastor John Rickman • Romans 8:28–30
We are in part two of facing life with confidence. Last week we asked the question, “How can a Christian face the suffering and difficulties of this world with confidence that God is for us?” We saw that there is hope for the future as adopted children of God, and that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness today. This morning, we will be looking at a very famous verse for another reason we can face life with confidence as a Christian.

Creation's Future Restoration
August 11, 2024 • Pastor Miguel Yustiz • Romans 8:18–22
Verses 18–25 could be considered a subpoint or a parenthesis on the topic of adoption. While the Christian can be assured now that God is his Abba (vs. 16), the full realization and enjoyment of his adoption will not be attained until the “revealing of the sons of God” (vs. 19). Until that glorious day, the Christian groans…along with the rest of creation.
Freedom and Adoption
August 4, 2024 • Pastor Miguel Yustiz • Romans 8:12–17
In verses 12–13 Paul wraps up his discussion on the flesh and the Spirit by exhorting his readers to trust the claim that they no longer have any obligation to their former master… rather, believers now have the means AND responsibility to put to death the remnants of their former lifestyle. In verses 14–17 Paul introduces the language of adoption to talk about the benefits of legally becoming a child of God. Amongst these benefits is the Spirit of adoption, Who is the opposite of the spirit of bondage and slavery.
Life in the Spirit
July 28, 2024 • Pastor Andrew Taylor • Romans 8:9–11
In Romans 8:9-11, Paul emphasizes the contrast between his audience and those who live according to the flesh. There are only two options: life in the flesh, and life in the Spirit. Paul highlights the differences between these categories, and focuses on what is true about every person who has been justified by faith. This morning, we look at three realities that are true in the life of every believer.

No Condemnation
July 14, 2024 • Pastor Phillip Macdonald • Romans 8:1–4
Many have called Romans 8 “the greatest chapter in the Bible”. The Apostle Paul describes in Romans 8 how God is for us. He does not list a single command in this chapter. Instead, Paul joyfully ponders the spiritual blessings God pours out on believers. Through reading this chapter, believers can be assured they are in Christ,
empowered by the Spirit, and forever loved by God. Grounded in this assurance, believers can grow spiritually.
In Romans 5:18, Paul describes that through Adam’s sin, all people are under condemnation—deserving of God’s wrath. But, Romans 8:1 opens with a glorious truth—a banner that triumphantly flies over all who are in Christ: “There is therefore now no condemnation…” In Romans 8:1-4, believers are encouraged by five life-
changing blessings of being in Christ.
