No Condemnation

July 14, 2024 • Pastor Phillip Macdonald • Romans 8:1–4

Many have called Romans 8 “the greatest chapter in the Bible”. The Apostle Paul describes in Romans 8 how God is for us. He does not list a single command in this chapter. Instead, Paul joyfully ponders the spiritual blessings God pours out on believers. Through reading this chapter, believers can be assured they are in Christ,

empowered by the Spirit, and forever loved by God. Grounded in this assurance, believers can grow spiritually.

In Romans 5:18, Paul describes that through Adam’s sin, all people are under condemnation—deserving of God’s wrath. But, Romans 8:1 opens with a glorious truth—a banner that triumphantly flies over all who are in Christ: “There is therefore now no condemnation…” In Romans 8:1-4, believers are encouraged by five life-

changing blessings of being in Christ.
