August 6, 2023 • Pastor John Rickman • Titus 3:9–15
So many products today come with warning labels. As Paul concludes the letter to Titus, he gives a few parting warnings for the church: focus on the things that matter, avoid distractions, and beware of divisions.
The Christian's Motivation for Godly Living
July 30, 2023 • Pastor Miguel Yustiz • Titus 3:3–8
Paul explains to Titus that the motivation for continually reminding the Cretans to live godly lives should be our understanding of God’s saving character. He carries out his explanation by answering the question: Why should Christians live godly lives?
Seven Practices For Godly Living
July 23, 2023 • Pastor Miguel Yustiz • Titus 3:1–2
Paul recognizes that the Cretans were (in a lot of ways) products of their culture, so he commands Titus to keep the Cretan believers accountable to living godly lives that will contrast the sin-dominated culture in which they lived.
Transformed Living
July 16, 2023 • Pastor Mark Johnson • Titus 2:11–15
The daily living of the Cretans needed transformation (Titus 1:12). So does ours (3:3). The repeated words in the short letter to Titus reveal HOW: “Savior,” “Doctrine/Teaching” (3x), “Work(s)/good works” (8x). The truths about our Savior transform our LIVING. Deeds display doctrine. Belief is the basis of Behavior. Faith produces works (Eph. 2:10). Grace inspires godliness… Chapter 2 called all ages groups to Gospel-transformed living (2:1, 2:10). Next (‘for”), Paul unpacked this grace-inspired transformation process step by step.
Living Light
July 9, 2023 • Pastor John Rickman • Titus 2:7–10
Titus 2:1-10 displays Godly living that will be a light to a lost world. In every stage of life and in every circumstance, Paul provides concrete examples of what a Godly life looks like. It is in stark contrast to the description of false teachers in Titus 1:16 who, “profess to know God, but deny him by their works.”
Godly Goals As You Grow Up
July 2, 2023 • Pastor Phillip Macdonald • Titus 2:1–6
What did you want to be when you grew up? Many of us had childhood dreams about the future career and family we wanted. In Titus 2:1-6, Paul gives men and women godly goals as they grow up. Men and women who are saved by grace must commit to be faithful disciples who make disciples.
Silencing The Wolves
June 25, 2023 • Pastor Phillip Macdonald • Titus 1:10–16
Because of the love Jesus and His apostles had for the flock of God, they repeatedly warned believers about spiritual wolves (Matthew 7:15, Acts 20:29-30, 2 Peter 2:1-3, 1 John 4:1-3, Jude 17-19, etc.). In Titus 1:10-16, Paul warns the shepherds and the sheep about the wolves roaming in Crete. This passage helps us today be able to discern a wolf’s character and teaching, and to avoid the danger of falling prey to these evil beasts.
Needed
June 18, 2023 • Pastor Curt Lowry • Titus 1:5–9
In Titus 1:5-9, Paul is giving Titus a “Big Ministry Assignment.” He is to “Set Things In Order” and to “Appoint Elders in Every City” on the Island of Crete. These Elders had to be “Qualified” in order to become leaders in Christ’s Church. Some of the qualifications are given in these 5 verses. There are several other Scriptural Passages that should be included when considering Elder qualifications. (I Tim. 3; I Peter 5)
