September 29, 2024 • Pastor Kevin P. Horath • James 2:14–17
Today's message incorporates research on Generation Alpha and previous generations, addressing their concerns about hypocrisy, irrelevance, and the need for authenticity. We will speak to how the church can become more relevant and responsive to the values and needs of these younger generations (without compromising the Gospel), focusing on living out faith through tangible service.
In addition to our Missions offering, we will collect a special offering for the WSOY Community Food Drive.
Loneliness - Baptism Sunday
September 22, 2024 • Pastor Kevin P. Horath • Ecclesiastes 4:9–12
How can it be that we live in the most connected time in history, yet we are lonelier than ever before? The past few years have only deepened the loneliness crisis.
Cigna research from 2021 shows that loneliness has hit the younger generation harder than any other, with nearly 80% of adults aged 18–24 reporting feelings of loneliness—double that of seniors. This problem was heightened by the isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, but even years later, many people remain disconnected.
Today, we’ll explore why this generation feels so alone and how Scripture speaks into this reality. Also, it is Baptism Sunday!
Peer Pressure
September 15, 2024 • Pastor Kevin P. Horath • 1 John 2:15–17
To help youth who are facing peer pressure more pervasively than ever, older generations are to live out a life of faithful discipleship themselves and, through their example, equip this new generation with what they need to make the right call.
Cancel Culture
September 8, 2024 • Pastor Kevin P. Horath • Matthew 10:21–23
Our kids are experiencing the stress of “cancel culture” from all ideological sides; they need the help of adults in their lives to live faithfully in the midst of this. Living the life as a called Christian means that we are to not only share the message of Jesus but live like we believe it, even at the risk of being "cancelled."
Adults These Days
September 1, 2024 • Pastor Kevin P. Horath • Ephesians 6:1–4, Colossians 3:21
Parents and other adults in childrens' lives can cause them to lose heart if they resort to fear-based leadership; because of this, this series begins by challenging “adults these days” before we talk about “kids these days.”
The way we act toward our. children and teens in the midst of disagreement, the way we talk to them and hear them, will make a big impact in how they come to view God and the world.
