The Shepherd

Blessing or Burdens?

August 18, 2019 • Pastor Brian Compton

We’ve been on quite the journey with this Psalm over the past 3 months, and it wraps up with a powerful and positive statement that overflows with faith, gratitude, and love for the Shepherd. The sheep has experienced all the CARE, all the WORK, all the alert WATCHFULNESS, all the SKILL, all the CONCERN, all the SELF-SACRIFICE of the Shepherd. He / She TRUSTS their shepherd and his character. Through the good AND the bad, the happy and the scary, the sheep still says, "My cup overflows with blessings." So take a listen or a watch, and we hope that you are able to learn, grow and catch something brand new that you haven't heard before! He anoints my head with oil

August 11, 2019 • Pastor Brian Compton

Have you ever been really bugged by some kind of thought buzzing around your brain? Flies could literally drive sheep insane because they pop up & fly around the faces of sheep, who do not have any defenses against flies. The sheep would begin to hide & get fearful. They'd stomp around, get irritable, and if they didn’t find relief some would bang their heads up against trees, scratch themselves blind, and even drown themselves in rivers or run off cliffs accidentally. Do you feel like you can relate to the sheep a little? Well in this podcast, Pastor Brian talks about how the Holy Spirit brings us peace (the symbolism is He anoints us with oil). God’s anointing is always FUTURE FOCUSED. So take a listen or a watch, and we hope that you are able to learn, grow and catch something brand new that you haven't heard before! Handle It

July 28, 2019 • Pastor Brian Compton

This is a weekly worship gathering message at Hillcrest Church in Bremerton, WA led by Pastor Brian Compton. We are in a series called "The Shepherd" on Psalm 23. The Shepherd carries two tools to guide and protect his flock: a rod and the... STAFF. This message is on the staff of a shepherd and what He does with it. Since the Shepherd constantly carried the staff, the sheep considered it a part of him so he would use it to touch the sheep as they went by for extra attention, which the sheep loved. What is the point of all the contact? One main benefit is to heal hurt. How does God do that? He wants us to deal with our hurt. So take a listen or a watch, and we hope that you are able to learn, grow and catch something brand new that you haven't heard before! This is a weekly worship gathering message at Hillcrest Church in Bremerton, WA led by Pastor Brian Compton. We are in a series called "The Shepherd" on Psalm 23. It was a small, club like stick that represented the Shepherd's strength, and authority to protect his flock. And it was used by the shepherd to discipline, protect, and inspect his sheep. Depletion

This is a weekly worship gathering message at Hillcrest Church in Bremerton, WA led by Pastor Brian Compton. We are in a series called "The Shepherd" on Psalm 23. TEMPTATIONS play a big role in your mind during the walk through the dark valley. You’ve got to deal with the temptation to COURSE CORRECT, or to CONTROL the situation, or hit the EJECT BUTTON on the entire journey (which is really like pulling the pin on a grenade). TEMPTATIONS really do run high during the dark valley days. One important element of the dark valleys for us, they have the potential to be EXTREMELY http://fruitful...if you water where you are planted, so to speak. So take a listen or a watch, and we hope that you are able to learn, grow and catch something brand new that you haven't heard before! He RENEWS My Soul

July 7, 2019 • Pastor Brian Compton

This is a weekly worship gathering message at Hillcrest Church in Bremerton, WA led by Pastor Brian Compton. We are in a series called "The Shepherd" on Psalm 23. Life has a way of wearing us out, breaking us down and costing us more than we expect to pay. Over time, if we let it, it can get us down. God knows this so he renews our souls! In this series, we have been comparing sheep and people. Sheep can become downcast for several reasons (just like us). And when that happens, it drives us toward isolation, internal pressures, and inhibits our ability to be a source of life to others. So take a listen or a watch, and we hope that you are able to learn, grow and catch something brand new that you haven't heard before! Winning

June 30, 2019 • Pastor Brian Compton

This is a weekly worship gathering message at Hillcrest Church in Bremerton, WA led by Pastor Brian Compton. We took a pause on the Shepherd series to have a worship gathering with JUST worship. Pastor Brian shared a short thought in the middle on what we do when we "win". How do you respond you win? How do you respond when you lose? Well, Jesus wired us to raise our hands in victory. When we worship, it's connecting ourselves to the victory that God has for us. At Hillcrest, we like to take a pause every once in awhile and just worship. It connects our soul in a different way to Jesus and what he wants to say to us. By this point in the sheep’s journey, the Shepherd has called, cleaned, and commissioned his sheep. * He called them to be in his flock. * He has cleaned them, which shows individual care and attention. * And he has commissioned them to go with him, which shows commitment. Jesus has done these exact same things with us every day. This message is a message of allowing Jesus to LEAD us through things in life, not around things. Free from Hunger

June 16, 2019 • Pastor Brian Compton

This is a worship gathering message at Hillcrest Church in Bremerton, WA led by Pastor Brian Compton. This message is from the series called "The Shepherd". The context is out of Psalm 23. This is a psalm that chronicles a year in the life of a sheep; written from a sheep’s perspective, by a shepherd, who discovered how shepherd-like God is. The idea in this message is that unrested sheep (us) are unhealthy sheep. So God works in our hearts to remove toxins, "rocks", provide water for a dry heart, and give us rest when we "strive" too much for things that may not be for us. We also talked about relational needs that God meets through relationships. This podcast is jam packed with so many good nuggets! You might need to listen twice! So take a listen or a watch, and we hope that you are able to learn, grow and catch something brand new that you haven't heard before!
