In the Christmas story, God made himself known. God draws and calls all people to himself, often speaking to them through their culture in a language they understand, leading them to Christ. The Magi are an example of how this works. The Magi were spiritual seekers and they were looking for God’s movement in the world. Jesus said, “Seek and you will find...”

A continuous storyline of the Bible is that those who experienced God in a mighty way were those who were willing to take steps to seek God, take a risk, and go where God commanded, giving them a purpose for their lives. And we don’t fulfill this purpose alone—God is with us!

Within the incarnation moment, God was making a way for humanity to unite around the Savior and the person of Jesus. Just as the birth of Jesus drew Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, the Magi, and the various onlookers together on that silent night, Jesus is drawing us back together in authentic and loving community.
