The Spirit Leads

The God I Never Knew • March 3, 2019 • Randy Hageman

The Holy Spirit lives in Christians to lead us to become more and more like Jesus. The Spirit is seeking to transform us to think, act and be like Jesus, and therefore be different (holy) from the world around us, so that loving God, loving our neighbors, and making disciples increasingly become our focus in life. Today, in this concluding message of the series, Acts 8 shows the Spirit leading Philip to live this way.

The Spirit Convicts

The God I Never Knew • February 24, 2019 • Randy Hageman

The Holy Spirit works in us to help us become more and more like Jesus. But that means that not only does the Spirit empower our transformation, the Spirit must also, at times, show us how we are falling short of God’s plan for our lives – the Spirit convicts or helps us recognize and acknowledge our faults, failings and sins, either directly, or through Scripture, or even through others. And sometimes,as the early Christian Stephen discovered, some don’t like what the Spirit says.

Step by Step You Lead Me

The God I Never Knew - Part 4 • February 17, 2019 • Carson Minish

As we are reading through the book of Acts, we've seen Peter and the other apostles perform many miracles. While many people have praised and turned to God, the Pharisees have not. In fact, their jealousy overcame them and they threw the apostles in prison for questioning. In Acts 5, we will read about this interaction between the Apostles and the Pharisees to learn what obedience to God looks like and to understand what part the Holy Spirit plays in our life today.

The Spirit Works Through Community

The God I Never Knew - Part 3 • February 10, 2019 • Randy Hageman

With the coming of the Holy Spirit, a new community was formed that placed their faith in Jesus Christ and was empowered by His Spirit. This community, which would later be called the Church, was critical to God’s plan to equip and empower the growth of disciples of Jesus Christ. But more than a name, as we’ll see today, the whole idea of the Spirit working through individuals to equip and empower others has always been crucial to the Christian journey.

The Spirit Works Through People

The God I Never Knew - Part 2 • February 3, 2019 • Randy Hageman

The Spirit’s coming was a miraculous event with sounds and wind and the disciples speaking in other languages. But the primary work of the Spirit wasn’t external actions but virtually always through people, such as Peter’s sermon in Acts 2, or the Spirit using Peter to heal a crippled man in Acts 3. As we’ll see today in Acts 4, the Spirit is being an inspired witness to Jesus and his power to work in and through us today!

The Spirit Has Come

The God I Never Knew - Part 1 • January 27, 2019 • Randy Hageman

Today we dive into Acts 2 and the actual coming of the Holy Spirit on what is called Pentecost. It was a wild, crazy event, and all those who witnessed it asked, “What does this mean?” And that’s still a good question for us today! What does it mean that the Holy Spirit has come? And what should I do? Those are questions we’ll explore today!

The Spirit is Coming

As we prepare to begin our in-depth study of the first eight chapters of Acts and the Holy Spirit, today we’ll look at a little of the background of Acts. We’ll also explore some of the key verses in chapter one in which Jesus prepares us for what is to come and what it means for us today. Get ready, because, “The Spirit is Coming!”
