Expansive Love

February 14, 2021

February 14, 2021 • Sara Don Bailey

We have heard it over and over again- "love thy neighbor as yourself!" and "treat others the way you want to be treated!" But what does it really look like to truly extend love to our neighbors and not forget about extending that same compassion towards ourselves, as well? Both are equally as important! This Sunday is Valentine's Day and this sermon from Sara Don Bailey focuses on celebrating God's expansive love, how the church is called to extend that same love to others, and last but certainly not least, what this love means for you and me.

Scriptures used in this sermon:
1 Corinthians 13:1-7

The Makings of a Right Spirit

March 14, 2021 • Rev. Julie Richardson

This Sunday we will spend some time with Psalm 51, a psalm of confession if there ever was one, and perhaps just exactly the psalm we need in a time when the hearts and souls of just about all of us are weary and worn with the heartache of the world. What might it mean to cleanse our hearts and renew our spirits in these days we are living? For more about Rev. Turning Tables

March 7, 2021 • Rev. Erin Wathen

There's a difference between calling out, and calling in. When you call someone out, you name their sin out loud. You put them in their place. Maybe you shame them, knock them down a few pegs. But when you call someone IN, you extend an invitation. You create space for growth and transformation. You open the door for restored relationship. The challenge, of course, is having the wisdom to know when it is time to flip over the table, maybe even bring the whole house http://down...and when it is time to call folks in. Jesus seems to have a pattern for this. There aren’t many times when we see him angry, flipping over tables. Most often, he turns tables in other ways. Disciples of today find ourselves at a unique moment in history. When so many are hungry and hurting; when the gap between the privileged and the marginalized continues to grow; and when so much of life as we knew it has been lost to a season of quarantine… there is a wide open space to build what’s next. Will we go back to what was? Or can we whip up something new, something better? The space has been cleared. The foundation is there. What will we build? For more about Rev.
