Summer of Joy

Gospel Partnership

June 5, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Philippians 1:1–11

Joy thrives in community. To multiply joy, love with purpose, discern what is best, live sincere, and point to God's glory. God works out our salvation and completes the work in our lives.

Unfettered Joy

June 12, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Philippians 1:12–26

Joy is independent of our circumstances. Joy won’t be stifled when the Gospel matters most. When your life is not your own, the reality of the end generates joy. Joy is a weapon to find resilience and grit. Choosing Jesus produces joy.

Worthy Gospel

June 19, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Philippians 1:27–30

Life worth living is for a worthy Gospel. A worthy Gospel brings opposition. The Gospel is good, settles a sin issue and is worth our devotion.

Worthy Church

June 26, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Philippians 2:1–4

A worthy church aggressively directs its focus toward Jesus. To walk into church in 2022 and beyond, identify your motive for today, desire to be a part of something, ask more questions, recognize the brokenness in yourself and others, take a step. Pursue Christ most.

Relatable Jesus

July 3, 2022 • Kevin Brimner • Philippians 2:5–11

Jesus was obsessed with the relationship he had with the Father. He willingly served the family mission. Your obsession always finds its way to an expression.

Work It Out

July 10, 2022 • Kevin Brimner • Philippians 2:12–18

Your spiritual life is not a solo endeavor and never has been. A healthy church collectively works out what God has already individually worked in us. When we choose joy over grumbling or arguing, the work within us becomes blameless and pure, begins to influence the work outside of you and strengthens those who taught you.

How to Choose a Coach

July 17, 2022 • Kevin Brimner • Philippians 2:19–30

What to look for in a spiritual coach - has outstanding recommendations, possesses genuine concern for you, thinks first about Jesus, has a proven track record working with the Gospel, doesn’t object to having someone inspect their efforts, is versatile, actively compassionate and lives in an “all in” mentality.

Celebrate This Not That

July 24, 2022 • Kevin Brimner • Philippians 3:1–11

As a follower of Jesus, celebrating joy doesn’t hinge on everything being perfect. Christ + ___________ ≠ Gospel. The Gospel is Jesus, period. We don’t have to add anything else to it. Heritage gives your life a structure, but faith structures how you are to live.

Living Up

July 31, 2022 • Kevin Brimner • Philippians 3:15–21, Philippians 4:1

There are three impacts that maturity has on our joy. Better models lead to better fulfillment, maturity draws lines, and the measure of maturity is conduct. While we are subjects of the United States, we are servants of King Jesus.

Grasping at Straws

August 7, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Philippians 4:1–9

The Gospel is always within reach when we let go of futile beliefs. Sometimes the best help is the help we didn’t know we needed. How to stop grasping for straws and take hold of the Gospel: choose joy, lead with gentleness, and lean into prayer. Take inventory of your highest influences.

The Art of Measuring Joy

August 14, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Philippians 4:10–14

Our joy cannot be measured by the amount we have but rather by our strength found in Christ. When we measure joy by how much we have, we will spend our way chasing joy. Our strength should be found in the Provider, not the provision. In scarcity we should find strength in He who sustains us. In plenty we should find strength in He who sustains us. Some have more than me, others have less, but what I have is enough.

2+2≠4

August 21, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Philippians 4:14–20

Your generosity cannot outpace a Gospel movement. Generosity is not only for Gospel-seasoned people. Your giving never leaves you empty. The saying grace of God deserves all we have.

"All whom the Lord our God will call"

August 28, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Philippians 4:21–23

Who will God call? Your relational reach is more than you think. Don’t write the end of an unfinished story. Eternal life begins and ends with grace.

Celebrate Joy

September 4, 2022 • Nathan Logsdon • Leviticus 3

Celebrations, like the Celebration of Joy that we’re having today, help us remember important moments. There are events in the Old Testament to show and celebrate God’s power and movement through the generations.. Communion is a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. These moments help us understand who God is and who He wants us to be. We are then to take that understanding and message to those around us. The truth that we know is that Christ will return.
