Has there ever been a time in your life when you seriously needed help? Perhaps you were broken down? Perhaps you were studying, and a subject proved difficult for you? Perhaps you were trying to make friends, or get rid of a friend, or it was much more serious than that? There are times in our lives when we seriously need help. Fortunately, God is the answer to His own standard! We have help in Jesus!

During the last two weeks we have spoken of the insignificance of the sufferings found in this world compared to the glory which will be revealed to us. Does that mean that there isn’t a concern to be found? Does it mean that we just need to be persecuted to go to Heaven (see verse 17)? Or is Paul establishing our need for the gospel to be centered solely upon Jesus? If God’s provision is in Jesus, then our sufferings, our fears, and even our sanctification is all secondary to HIS Work in salvation. We are either saved by grace or by works…thank God—it really is all about Him! Today, and next week, we shall find out that it has always been about Him. Fear not! The Lord has provided!

I hope that not too many of us are out walking on train tracks. Not only is it dangerous, but it is normally illegal. Even still, can you imagine in your mind a dark train tunnel going through a large mountain? If you entered it, the last thing you would want to see is a bright light coming towards you! Here is a secret though: not all lights are trains! Sometimes the darkness of this world can be scary, but there is a LIGHT at the end of the tunnel that we want to see; His Name is Jesus! What are you looking forward to? A train or the SON?

Do you know what a chrysalis is? It is the very unusual and sometimes very ugly transformation of a bug. The most beautiful version of this is the transformation of an egg to a caterpillar to a chrysalis to an emerging and then finally adult butterfly. If you couldn’t observe it, you wouldn’t believe it. The transformation of a sinner should be no less spectacular. Today we will see that it isn’t just possible, it is necessary for us all! Let’s be like Jesus!
