Acts 9:31 Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.
A. The Person of the Holy Spirit.
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” John 16:13-14
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit.” Acts 5:3
B. The Characteristics of the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 4:30 “Do not grieve the Holy Spirit . . .”
John 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.
Matthew 10:19-20 When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. 20 For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
Acts 8:29 And the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join this chariot.”
C. The Reception of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 15:7-8 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.
Acts 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders.”
D. The Walk with the Holy Spirit.
Acts 5:32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who
obey him.”
Galatians 5:22-23a But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.
John 4: 24 “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
