08-22-21 Coming Full Circle
August 20, 2021 • Pastor George Gasperson • Genesis 42—48
The main characters in Joseph’s story are Joseph, his brothers, and his father Jacob. Within the larger story of Joseph’s life, each of these characters have their own individual storylines. This week we’ll see how God manages to not only bring each character’s storyline full circle, but simultaneously set the stage for the emergence of the Israelite nation, which lays the foundation for the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
08-15-21 Dealing With Difficult Circumstances
August 15, 2021 • Pastor George Gasperson • Genesis 39—41
In this middle section of Joseph’s life, things go from bad to worse. Seized by his brothers, sold into slavery, wrongly accused of impropriety, and thrown into prison, it would have been easy to give up and forget about his faith.
08-08-21 How to Ruin Relationships
August 8, 2021 • Pastor George Gap, Genesis • Genesis 37
This week’s study begins the section of Joseph’s life. Instead of dissecting the narrative or doing a character study of one of the people in the story, let’s focus our attention on something different that the story tells- the interpersonal relationship dynamics of Joseph’s family. This story reveals 6 toxic dynamics that will ruin any relationship.
07-25-21 Short Term Gain, But Long Term Pain
July 25, 2021 • James Nelson
What happens when we choose the path of getting what we want right now, to the detriment of long term plans? What happens when God places signs and warnings in our path before we make that choice, but we do so anyway? Let’s look in Scripture and read about Jacob and Esau.
07-18-21 The God of Everyday Life
July 18, 2021 • Pastor George Gasperson
When we think God, we think of a miracle working, supernatural God who answers prayer in magnificent ways. That isn’t wrong, but God is more than that. Not only is He a God of the miraculous, but He is a God who is equally concerned with the everyday decisions and circumstances of life. Here are some principles that can help you involve God in the everyday events of life.
07-11-21 Abraham and Isaac
July 11, 2021 • Pastor George Gasperson
In this last chapter in the story of Abraham’s life, we read what is probably the most gut wrenching stories in the entire Bible. This was a test of Abraham’s faith that involved the most precious thing Abraham had- his son Isaac. Trust God when you're being tested. Hold tight to your faith in Him. He's not messing with you, and He's not torturing you. He's trying to show you that you can trust Him with the most valuable and precious belongings that you have. And He's making you into a man or woman of real, true, tested faith that can change the world.
06-27-21 Sodom and Gomorrah
June 27, 2021 • Pastor George Gasperson
We are making our way through the book of Genesis, and this week we’ll read about the destruction of the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Intertwined within this story is a contrast of the integrity of Abraham and his nephew Lot. Here are the principles today’s story reveals: • God responds to the prayers of righteous people • Bad surroundings corrupts good character • God will not fail to judge evil • Anyone can be God’s friend- even YOU! God wants nothing more than to be your friend, too. He invites you into a deep, personal relationship with Him. That relationship opens the door to an entirely new existence with God as a friend instead of an opponent. Give your life to Him!
06-06-21 Cain and Abel
June 6, 2021 • Pastor George Gasperson
Today’s topic is relevant because it shines the light on the damaging effects of a human being’s sinful nature. Genesis 4 tells the poignant story of Cain and Abel, and how Cain’s sinful nature was expressed in increasingly sinful ways, leading to the place sin always leads- death.
05-23-21 In the Beginning
May 24, 2021 • Pastor George Gasperson
This week begins a new series in the Old Testament book of Genesis. Today’s text, Genesis 1-2, might be the most information packed chapters in the entire Bible. In two chapters we go from nothing to a fully and perfectly created universe, earth, plants, animals, and two human beings. While it is impossible to cover all this information in one message, let’s try to hit the highlights and end with some more detailed observations.
05-30-21 The Fall of Man
May 30, 2021 • Pastor George Gasperson
After God created the world, everything was wonderful. The animals had plenty of food and space to live and Adam had just been presented with Eve. The world was perfect- that is, until Genesis Chapter 3 comes along. Today we’ll learn about how sin entered into the world, how it affected God’s creation, and the consequences of that sin.
