Psalm 138 is a song of thankfulness and praise. To be thankful, one needs to be thankful "FOR" something.
This Psalm tells us what David is thankful for and how he has expressed that gratitude and also hints at where or before whom he has sung his praise to God. We today can follow his model and sing our thanks and praise to him in more places than just our church.

August 7, 2022 • Pastor Travis Marsh • Psalm 86
Jesus challenges us to bring our struggles and cares before him. To ask God to provide for us in all matters. We call this type of prayer "Supplication."
Psalm 86 is a psalm of supplication. It guides us in the process of making a request to the Lord with a humble heart. It teaches us how to bring our requests before the Lord and position ourselves for his response. Join us this Sunday as we continue in our series on the Psalms.
Part 6 | Singing the Song of Confidence
July 31, 2022 • Eric Ford • Psalm 91
What do we rely on for confidence? Who do we trust in? Psalm 91 paints a picture of the protective nature of God. His name is a shelter that provides all we need in the face of life’s many dangers and challenges. The psalmist expounds on this sense of security using powerful metaphors and draws out promises for the people of God. At times, we fall prey to disbelief, but this Psalm reminds us of key aspects of truth found in our relationship with Jesus. Join us in worship as we dive into this vivid and inspiring passage.

July 24, 2022 • Zakk Uhler • Psalm 145

Part 4 | Singing the Song of Communal Lament
July 17, 2022 • Pastor Marty Scales • Psalm 137
As we can read in the first chapter of Daniel, God allowed Babylon to capture Judah; many were taken into exiled captivity. The Babylonians mockingly asked the Israelites to sing some of the songs of Zion. The author of this song laments the pain of this taunting request by writing, "How can we sing the LORD's song in a foreign land?" This Psalm Song is a communal lament of exiled Israel as it realizes the pain of God's punishment and searches for purpose and hope for the future. This Sunday we too will ask, "How can we sing the LORD's song in a foreign land?"
Part 3 | Singing the Song of Personal Lament
July 10, 2022 • Pastor Marty Scales • Psalm 42
This Psalm is one of Personal Lament. The first line, "As the deer pants for the water" pictures a deer's great thirst; just like our souls can thirst for help from God. The writer's depression and frustrated complaint are spoken, but his expression of pain turns to faith when he pauses to reflect on this great question, "Why are you cast down my soul? Why are you in turmoil within me?" This Sunday we will look at this Psalm Song to identify some of the causes of spiritual depression as well as what can be the cure.
Part 2 | Singing the Song of the Messiah
July 3, 2022 • Pastor Travis Marsh • Psalm 110
Learn how to sing David's song of the Christ. Like David, you need to imagine where the Christ sits; he sits at the right hand of Power (Matt. 26:64). With our songwriter, you need to see the scepter in Christ's hand; he rules over all. And with David, you need to know that Christ is your Priest (from the ancient line of Melchizedek) forever.
Part 1 | Singing the Song of Wisdom
June 26, 2022 • Pastor Marty Scales • Psalm 1
There are Biblical songs/poems that are called Instructional or Wisdom Psalms. Psalm 1 sharply contrasts the wisdom of God and that of sinners. Why would the compilers of the Psalter place this Psalm as the first one? What is the instructional wisdom for our lives here today? Hint: It's all about what we “Delight in”. According to this Psalm, the truly "Blessed" person has become captivated by the law of the LORD.
