Psalm 138 is a song of thankfulness and praise. To be thankful, one needs to be thankful "FOR" something.
This Psalm tells us what David is thankful for and how he has expressed that gratitude and also hints at where or before whom he has sung his praise to God. We today can follow his model and sing our thanks and praise to him in more places than just our church.

Jesus challenges us to bring our struggles and cares before him. To ask God to provide for us in all matters. We call this type of prayer "Supplication." Psalm 86 is a psalm of supplication. It guides us in the process of making a request to the Lord with a humble heart. It teaches us how to bring our requests before the Lord and position ourselves for his response.
