Episode 50: Legacy Series—Facing Fear With an Eternal Perspective

It’s easy to get anxious or fearful about what’s going on in culture—not only for ourselves but for our children. This happened to me recently, and then I listened to a few of my grandfather, Billy Graham’s, messages. Daddy Bill’s sermons reminded me of the importance of having a heavenly mindset, especially when it seems chaos is everywhere. So, I decided to do another installment of my Legacy series, in which I share some of the Christian life lessons I learned from my grandfather. And from my grandmother, Ruth Graham, too.

This is the 50th episode and two year anniversary of Fearless, so I’ll also talk about how Fearless came about—or, actually, how it almost didn’t.

It’s hard to believe Election Day is tomorrow. No matter which side of the aisle you’re on, we can be sure there is a battle still in front of us – but the battle ahead is not ours, it’s God’s. We need to remember to trust God. We don’t know what the results of the election will be, but God does and we can trust Him with tomorrow. We do not have to live in fear or with anxious hearts; we can stand in strength because we know who holds our future. Many people think we shouldn’t talk about religion and politics. But one of the most essential rights we have as Americans is the right to free exercise of religion. In fact, it was so important to the founding fathers that they included it in the first sentence of the Bill of Rights. This has been a beacon of hope to those in other countries where people are persecuted for their religion. Yet, so many in our country want to take those rights away – claiming separation of church and state. Today, on the #FearlessPodcast I’m taking a look at the stories of people in the U.S. who have faced persecution and not backed down. My grandfather, Billy Graham, once said, “Let us stand for political freedom, moral freedom, religious freedom, and all the rights of all Americans, and let's never give in to those who would attempt to take it from us.” We pray that a new generation of believers will rise up to stand for the truth of God’s Word. What would you do if your child decided to identify as a bird and thought they could fly off of the stairs? You would stop them to protect them from getting hurt. Yet today many children are being influenced to harm themselves through body mutilation and toxic, life-altering drugs because they ‘identify’ as something they are not – and parents, doctors and the government are not only complying, they are advocating for it. Before gender identity was ever a political issue, it was a Biblical issue. Genesis 1:27 says, “And God made man in His own likeness. In the likeness of God He made him. He made both male and female.” We don’t define our gender – only God can define who we are.
