Asking Questions Series: Questions Challenge Our Faith

Transcript: Can God use a personal question to challenge our faith? He certainly can—and often does.

Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. Questions can be used in a variety of ways. For example, God sometimes uses questions to address areas of weakness or sin in our lives. In the Bible's first question, the serpent questioned God's law to Eve, asking, "Did God really say you shall not eat of any tree in the garden?" After Adam and Eve had been deceived, God had His own question for Adam. He asked, "Where are you?" The Lord knew the answer, but used His question to start a conversation about sin and its consequences. Questions can be used for evil, as in the serpent's case, or for good, as in the Lord's response. Today, ask AND respond to questions God's way, standing for truth whatever the situation. Transcript: How can we address the difficult questions we have about our faith? The answer is often found in understanding the important role of asking questions. Jesus often used probing questions to address deep spiritual issues. For example, after asking His disciples, "Who do people say that I am?" He asked His own disciples, "Who do YOU say that I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ." Though the crowds had many opinions about the Lord, Peter recognized His true identity. Instead of avoiding tough questions, consider them an opportunity to grow spiritually and to deepen your walk with the Lord. He is powerful enough to handle any question you face today. We often find ourselves focused on food, watching football, or other plans, yet the real joy of the holiday is extended time together with loved ones, including our children and grandchildren. Scripture reminds us to make the most of every moment. Instead of overemphasizing food or other activities, remember the importance of time with those you love. This life passes so quickly.
