Transcript: Black Friday marks the traditional first day of the Christmas shopping season, yet it has also become a concerning symbol of our nation’s materialism. How can we redeem Black Friday? Hello, I’m Sam Rohrer with another Stand in the Gap Minute. The term Black Friday has been used since the 1960s. However, recent years have seen the day expand into traffic jams and even fighting. Some retailers now employ armed guards to maintain order among tense shoppers. As we watch the chaos of Black Friday, it reminds us of two important biblical concepts. First, God calls us to be content with what we have. Second, we are not to love the things of this world. As He looks at us today, may we seek to live content with the amazing blessings He has already provided and seek to genuinely bless the lives of others this holiday season.
