Growing With Intent: Part 4

3 Ways to grow with intent. (Memorize these phrases) Run to the Cross – Sin is dealt with at the cross. Put yourself in situations to experience God – Be intentional about being were God is. (church, etc) Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable for God’s Kingdom – Stepping out of your comfort zone is where you will see signs and wonders. Main Point: Be Persistent. Grow with intent. Be purposeful in strengthening your relationship with God’s supernatural hand move on your behalf. Read the story of the Lame man: Luke 5:17-26. The lame man and his loved ones made it happen. They were Persistent and got Jesus’ attention. Zacchaeus climbed a tree but these men ripped off a roof to make sure Jesus could see the lame man. That is another level of ‘persistent’. The lame man had no hope. His condition was bleak. But in Jesus name there is hope. And once we have hope and we begin to grow with intent and make it happen and fight with persistence to stay close with God, then there is nothing that can stop the miraculous journey that God has planned for us. Nothing. Pastor’s Thoughts: (Be Persistent) To be persistent we must first know we are nothing, we are lost without God. Without God we labor in vain. Moses said if you don’t’ go with me God, I’ll stay in the mountains. Without God life is pointless. Once we have established this in our hearts and minds, we will fight to make it happen. We will fight to be persistent in our walk with God. Repeat after me. Without God we labor in vain. Without God life is pointless. Without God life is empty. With God we have all that we need in this world. Ecclesiastes 1:1-11. Without God all is vanity. (read passage by Robert Harris and Jason Burke) Since life is vanity without God, we must make it happen, we must be persistent to grow with intent. Only God fills our empty cups with joy, with love, with peace, with purpose. Our God is love. Our God Is peace. Our God is joy.

1. Run to the Cross – Sin is dealt with at the cross. 2. Put yourself in situations to experience God – Be intentional about being were God is. (church, etc) 3. Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable for God’s Kingdom – Stepping out of your comfort zone is where you will see signs and wonders. Main Point: Grow with intent. Be purposeful in strengthening your relationship with God and you will see God move in your circumstances. Run to the Cross King David’s Example of Repenting quickly 2 Samuel 12:1-13. David sinned against God and was confronted by the Prophet Nathan. David responded quickly and repented. David’s Response Psalm 51:10-19. Create in me a clean heart. David did not want to live without God’s presence and desired to return to the joy of his salvation. Pastor’s Thoughts: -David wasn’t perfect but he did have a heart to please God. His quick repentance helped him to continue to strengthen his walk with God. -Repenting quickly is an important part of growing with intent in the Lord. -If we allow sin to fester, we will stunt our growth in Christ. Repenting makes us from the yoke of sin. Put yourself in situations to experience God. Zacchaeus put himself in as situation to experience God. He made it happen. Luke 19:1-10. Because Zacchaeus put himself in a situation to see God in the flesh, salvation came to his house. Pastor’s Thoughts: -When you put yourself in situations to experience God, then your spirit will be renewed, strengthened. -You will grow in wisdom and your passion for Christ will grow deeper and deeper. Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable for God’s Kingdom. Peter stepped out of the comforts of the secure boat to be with Jesus. Matthew 14:22-29. Peter stepped out of his comfort zone, he experienced the supernatural hand of God. Pastor’s Thoughts: If you begin to get uncomfortable for God’s Kingdom, you will see signs and wonders.

Growing With Intent: Part 1

Main Point: Grow with intent. Be purposeful in strengthening your relationship with God and you will grow spiritually. 3 Helpful ways to grow with Intent: 1.Run to the Cross – Sin is dealt with at the cross. 2.Put yourself in situations to experience God – Be intentional about being were God is. 3.Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable for God’s Kingdom – Stepping out of your comfort zone is where you will see signs and wonders. Run to the Cross: 1 John 1:9-10. God is faithful to forgive us when we repent. Proverbs 28:13. Those that conceal their sin will not prosper but those that confess and forsake their sin will have mercy. Revelations 3:19. Be earnest to repent. God disciplines those he loves. Put yourself in situations to experience God. Church, worship, prayer, bible reading, tithing, serving. As you experience more of God you will grow and mature. Hebrews 10:24-25. Encourage one another to Love and to good works. Do not forsake to assemble together. Ephesians 5:18-21. Be filled with the spirit and join together in song and thanksgiving to God. Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable for God’s Kingdom. John 15:16. We did not chose God but God chose us to bear fruit, and as we bear fruit, God gives us what we ask. Pastor’s Thoughts: Look at it this way. If you need God to intervene for you (any prayer request), then seek for opportunities to bear fruit even if it gets you out of your comfort zone. It is when you step out of your comfort zone that you will see signs and wonders and the supernatural hand of God move on your behalf.

Main Point: Make it Happen. Grow with intent. Be purposeful in strengthening your relationship with God and you will see God move in your circumstances. 3 Ways to grow with intent. (church, etc) Don’t be afraid to get uncomfortable for God’s Kingdom – Stepping out of your comfort zone is where you will see signs and wonders. Luke 19:1-10. Zacchaeus made it happen. Pastor’s Thoughts: I love the story of Zacchaeus because it highlights a very important point about growing with intent as a Christian. The point is this Zacchaeus made it happen. He couldn’t see Jesus so he climbed the tree and when Jesus saw the effort, Jesus responded. Before this event happened, it is evident that Zacchaeus was known as a thief and a chief sinner. He was morally corrupt. So what changed? Why dis Zacchaeus want to see Jesus. Why did Zacchaeus make it happen? Why do sinners repent? Sinners repent when they are tired of being morally corrupt and they recognize they need a Savior. Jesus saw that Zacchaeus, made it happen because Zacchaeus wanted to change and be right with God. Do not be satisfied with your current walk with God. Choose to grow with intent. Zacchaeus wasn’t satisfied. If you find yourself felling empty from time to time as a Christian, that is a sign that it is time to press in. Time to make it happen. Pray more. Read your bible more. Serve others more. If you in debt, find opportunities to help others financially or otherwise with a little help here and a little help there. God is looking to and fro for godly hearts. Make it happen. Matthew 6:19-21. Lay treasures in heaven not treasures on earth. Earthly treasures die. Heavenly treasures are eternal. Pastor’s thoughts: In life there are things we can control and there are things we can’t control. We can’t control what others do. We can guide and recommend but we can’t control others. We can’t control all circumstances in our lives. But we can control where we lay our treasures God is calling his church to action. Make it happen. Pray daily. This is a heavenly treasure. Make it happen. Read your bible daily. This is a heavenly treasure. Make it happen. Be faithful to church attendance. This is a heavenly treasure. Make it happen. Be faithful in giving. This is a heavenly treasure. Make it happen. Used your spiritual gifts. This is a heavenly treasure. Make it happen
