Vexed by the Vax

October 31, 2021 • Randall Snipes

So often, we see the COVID-19 vaccine at the center of debate in just about every other conversation that we have. Many times this conversation becomes heated because the other person is not seeing things our way and this makes us upset. Sometimes this conversation may even take a turn for the worse and hatred for the other person enters into our minds. However, as Christians, Romans 14 tells us that there is freedom from all of this in Christ. It tells us that we should accept each other even if we do not agree. Don't argue, don't criticize and understand that it is not about us and what we want. Everything that we do should be about glorifying God and focusing on not having a desire to love something more than God. Even when that desire is having a particular stance on an issue that is a "hot" topic. We are called to walk with the One who has all the information and all the answers that we will ever need.

Hope is the expectancy of happiness and the optimism of good ahead. The problem is that hope is only as strong as what it is anchored to. Hebrews 6:19 tells us that our hope must be anchored to Jesus. Apart from Jesus, life is a series of hopeless events. God, however, has given believers two promises that should give us hope today. As a believer in Him, our sins are forgiven and our future is secure! These two things may not cure the temporary pain or depression but they are the substance of ongoing hope.
