Jesus tells His disciples that although they will face sorrow and tribulation, their grief will be turned into joy through His resurrection, and they can find peace because He has overcome the world. As Christians, we are called to live with unshakable hope in Christ, no matter how troubling our times may be.

John 17 gives us a window into the heart and mind of Jesus as He prays for Himself, His disciples, and all future believers. In this great prayer, we see an emphasis on pursuing the glory of God through growing sanctification, faithfulness to the mission, and the unity of the church. As we reflect on this passage, may we live to glorify God, pursue holiness, and unite around the mission of the gospel, knowing that we are kept by the sovereign grace of our Savior.

Jesus reminds us that though we will face tribulation in this world, we can have supernatural peace and courage because He has overcome it. His victory is final and complete and through faith in Him we have the strength to endure the trials of this life. Through Him we can live in the assurance of our access to the Father, our purpose in His mission, and the ultimate triumph of His kingdom.
