Tools & perspectives to enhance your life

The Voice in Your Head- Diabolic or Divine?

Paul Looney, MD • John 10

Sometimes the voice in my head is just me. It is my random or focused commentary on my circumstances, relationships, my performance, or my emotions. But I have found that I start talking to myself, referring to myself as "you," I am likely getting on a bad path. Whether justifying or condemning myself, it is not good. Of course, if God is addressing me, I will know it and he always brings conviction rather than condemnation. Now, if I speak in second person, I ain my "you" at God, making my inner conversation a conversation with God.

My Week in Paris!

Paul Looney, MD

I love Paris! It's my favorite city! And when friends invited to take Teri and me at their expense, I was over the moon. The anticipation alone gave me tremendous pleasure and excitement. My mood was enhanced for the two months leading up to the journey, so it was a bitter pill when I came down with Covid - round two! But God had something up His sleeve. After my grieving and giving in to the reality of the situation, He helped me see yet again how He is always at work in every circumstance to bless me and bring about good. Missed opportunities and disappointments can make way for bigger blessings, so when disaster strikes, our mindset can make all the difference. Since I couldn't get to Paris, I decided to bring Paris to me. Redemption came as I savored the Beauty of Belonging and the Goodness of Gratitude. I saw my need to have an Eye for Imagination, and the presence to engage the Miracle of every Moment.

Get wisdom!

Solomon - philosopher, poet, and king - urges us to seek wisdom more than gold or rubies. Knowledge can come from books, but wisdom comes from life. Specifically, we get wisdom from pain we suffer or through trusting another enough to gain from the suffering they have endured.

What are you waiting for?

Paul Looney, MD • 2 Corinthians 6:2

Take root. Bear fruit!

Dr Paul Looney • John 15:5

God wants you to bear fruit. You can't force it, but you can create conditions to foster fruit. Abiding in Jesus, staying deeply rooted in Him, gives us all we need to see the fruit flourish.
