Shine: The Book of Philippians - August 14, 2022

Introduction

August 14, 2022 • Brock Tharpe • Philippians 1:3–7, Philippians 2:14–15

In Philippians chapter two, verses 14 and 15, Paul tells the church to "Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world."

Looking at the world around us, it is easy to see that in relation to those verses, the world is doing its part. We see grumbling, disputing all around us. Crooked and twisted hearts abound. The question is, where are the people of God, who are meant to "Shine" like stars in the darkness.

In this opening message from our sermon series on the Book of Philippians, Brock begins with Paul's opening to the church at Philippi, highlighting Paul's infectious and unbreakable joy in the middle of his imprisonment, and how we are called to a joy that is the same.
