In 2 Peter 1:16-21, What makes Christianity unique is that it is based on historical events, not myths or legends. Peter was an eye-witness to Jesus' life and saw his glory revealed, and based on those experiences, he assures us of the suirty of the hope of the gospel and the Scriptures.

In this second chapter of Peter's first letter, he shows us that while Heaven is our ultimate home, God has a purpose with us here on Earth. We are called to live as the people of God, built up together into the true temple of God: a beacon of light to the world, in whom God dwells, with Jesus as our cornerstone.
