Our newest series of Talks explores the differences between our western mindset and the Hebrew mindset. We will think deeply about the importance of story, our comfortability with tension, and the overall methodology of Jewish interpretation of scripture. This series will set the stage for our Passover meal and Easter teaching, as well as an upcoming series on the New Testament letter of Hebrews.

Presuppositions

This is the first in a new series of Talks comparing the differences between the way modern, western people think and ancient Hebrew thinking. We will spend time thinking deeply about the importance of story, our comfortability with tension, and the overall methodology of Jewish interpretation of scripture. In this first talk we will tackle the idea of presuppositions. Presupposition /ˌpriː.sʌp.əˈzɪʃ.ən/ : an implicit assumption about the world or background belief relating to an utterance whose truth is taken for granted in discourse.
